Pop Century Room Renovations

Interested to find out how you made out requesting different room upon arrival - hoping for th best

Arrived at 9-9:30 (don't remember exact time) and went to front desk. Cm stated the resort was pretty full but she would check. No refurbished rooms available, but she said she could possibly check for us to move rooms following day (today). We opted out of that as this is only a 4 night stay and we didn't feel like having to deal with it today after a long day at the MK. Old room is decent, carpets are gross and crunchy. That's the real reason I wanted a refurbished room. Hotel carpets are just the worst. But I'm wearing socks and surviving

I am packing up the car and heading to Epcot for the day, then the outlet stores, dinner at Freddy's then heading back to beach. After I look at pictures I'll see if I have anything else of importance and if I remember anything.

Couple things off the top of my head -

Buses have been AWESOME! We've hardly waited, never had to stand and feels like the old days. DHS has some weird drop off at times due to construction but coming home either regular stop or they combined us when we ate late.

Last night for the first time I plugged DS1 iPod into one of the USB ports to charge. OMG it completely wiped off his iPod. I will have to redo the whole thing at home and pretty sure it will be a complete do over it's been so long. If that doesn't settle it for me, unless it's just a battery pack, nothing with a brain will get plugged directly in. (I already used my plug adapter with my phone due to the slow speed.)

His last trip DS2 bought one of those Fuel Rods in the parks you can just plunk in machines and get a new charged one. One day changed it 3 times. It is totally worth it to not carry battery chargers like I do. We use phones for photos and MDE often (we roll those FP+) so our phones run low.

Any questions, ask, I might not know or remember, but I'll try.

I'm not sure if it's just that I'm not used to Disney bus wait times or what, but our wait for a bus to Magic Kingdom today at 8 felt like forever. Waited in a solid line for maybe 20 minutes. I think I had expectations for lower crowds (Touring plans and everyone stating January is slow). MK definitely felt busy to me today, but then again I'm not a Disney veteran and I'm from a small town, so not accustomed to crowds. Anxious to see what Touring Plans show what the crows levels today actually were. Still had a wonderful first day at MK!

Well I think the buses are supposed to come about every 20 minutes, and we do not go to the parks at 8 am but we do close them down with thousands of others.

I have been this exact week 5 out of 6 years and NEVER seen it anything close to this crowd wise.

I was very surprised and DS1 who LOVES Magic Kingdom, it is critical to a successful trip had only a few hours there Sunday and then didn't even want to go back.

I saw a report on yesterday and it looked way off. Honestly, I don't use any crowd predictor, it's bound to disappoint.

The first few hours this morning were pretty overwhelming, but once we just accepted how busy it was our day got much better! Hoping for a great 2 more days despite the crowds. Thankfully we have another full day for MK Saturday to hit everything we missed!

I'm also leaving my portable battery behind and will buy a fuel rod in the park. Have heard great things about these!

If your trip is far enough out, I'd check the FuelRod website (fuel-rod.com). They sell them there for @$20 and will ship to you. I bought mine a few weeks ago for $25 (incl shipping), so cheaper than the parks. They also have a location search so see if you can avoid having it shipped. Plus if you follow them on Facebook, they sometimes run specials.

Thanks for this but we’re leaving for the airport in a few hours! We also live in Canada so shipping can be pricey. Shipping to Pop used to be a great option but with the $5/pkg charge now that changes things a bit. I will do a search using the airport zip though as we are driving across the border and flying out of the US tomorrow morning.

Check the airport that you are flying out of, as well. I was able to find a fuelrod dispenser in the Pittsburgh airport and it was $25 instead of the $30 that they are at Disney. They may have one there.

POP friends,

Can not press enough to work that FP+ system. We are rollers so our goal is to roll all day long and rarely get in a SB line.

At Epcot today in good sized crowds and came with no FP+. We are THREE. We have been able to get anything we want but passed on Illuminations as it kicks us down.

Been on TT, Living with Land, Nemo and Soarin’. Heading now to Frozen. First FP+ for it we got an hour ago at 7 pm, kept refreshing, changed a few times and just nabbed one 1:20, yes 10 minutes away.

We managed the same at Epcot on 1/12. Grabbed a 5th FP for FEA only 20 minutes before the window. Always refresh!

Not Keurig. They are 2 cup Cuisinart that take round, flat discs that are filters filled with coffee. They supply the coffee and fixings.

Hello, thanks for all your work it is very helpful in preparing our next trip to WDW this March (staying at Pop).

Form the various tread I didn't see if tea was also available in the rooms in addition to the coffee. If not where can we find tea pod that would fit into the 2 cup Cuisinart?

DH is a tea drinker. He always brings his own tea bags anywhere we go. Just use 2 tea bags (more if you like it stronger) in place of the coffee pod. But I recommend running a couple of rounds "clear" to get any residual coffee taste out before making your tea.

Or simply run a pot of hot water and put your tea bags in the pot, if you prefer to let it steep longer.

Enjoy your vacation!

Cannot wait to see your posts once you arrive - living thru you until my April trip :)

Do they only give you two packets of regular coffee to start with?

Yes. What I do is as soon as we get in our room for the 1st time I call housekeeping and ask them to bring extra coffee (for the next AM) and request that they leave extra every day when they service the room. We have always had coffee left over at the end of our trip since doing this. And we have 4-5 cups per morning between us.

I'm doing online checkin for a stay in two weeks and my only options are 80s, 50s, near stairs, highest floor, ground floor. Why would 90s and 70s not be available?

But if we are opting out of Mousekeeping, then we would just call them and ask them to bring us some?
