Texas: Buy a $100 Disney Gift Card, get a $15 H-E-B gift card coupon

OMG!!!! I am so bananas excited :banana::banana::banana: about the renewal of this deal after I got burned last time around! THIS time the placard advertising a 'Back to School' special WAS at my local HEB store (in Pflugerville Texas, just south of Round Rock). It was the tiniest advertising sign EVER, about the size of 2 gift cards, stuck out to the left of the gift card rack. After checking here to make sure cascading would work, I gave it a try. Bought one $100 Disney gift card (my store had tons of the Mickey gift card, which you can customize an amount from $5 to $500) and voila! The $15 Catalina printed right out, with NO restrictions on dates to use it in, and could be used on gift cards (except maybe HEB ones). Turned around and used it again on another $100 card using the same Disney Visa to pay with and voila! Another $15 Catalina!!! :yay::yay::yay::yay: I bought 16 of them with a grand total savings of $225 ($15 off for 15 cards and then the original first one with no discount).

That was extremely amazing as was, but even better is that I will get 5% back on all this as it is grocery store purchases, and I am in the three-month-special for upgrading to a Disney Premier Visa (where you get 5% back on Disney purchases, gas, groceries and dining instead of 2%).

I was literally set to pay for a fall Disney trip TOMORROW with just my Disney Visa (had to be paid by Aug.1). This is sooooo much better!! The Disney gods have rained their blessings. Ok that is over the top, but I am pretty jazzed!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::thumbsup2

Just did it in Katy and it worked!

I bought a $100 Amazon gift card, got a $15 Catalina, and then used it for my groceries.

Which Katy store? Going to try it tomorrow in Katy.

Forgot to mention that I had to call *3* times to Chase credit card fraud services because they kept declining the transaction after about 6 in a row. It might help to call them before you begin if you are going to do several, to let them know what you are doing so they don't cut you off. :thumbsup2

Did the cashier give you any trouble for doing 16 of these in a row? I imagine that would hold up the line quite a bit.

Disney Visa put a hold on my account after the 4th or 5th card. I only had to call once, though, and it let the other 15 transactions through :thumbsup2. I meant to post that yesterday, too, so I'm glad you remembered! --Katie

It worked for me :banana::banana:!!! I live in the Houston area (Friendswood). There was no sign about the promotion. I tried it with one first to see if it would work. Then, once it did, I bought 19 more :scared1::scared1:. I'm on the phone paying with them right now :goodvibes. Thanks SO much, OP!!!! :yay::yay: BTW-- I bought the ones that were loadable for $15 to $500. They did not have any that said $100. --Katie

Great that it worked for you. Yep, the Mickey $15-$500 cards are the ones you want. Back in December 2010, they gave you a $5 HEB gift card for buying one of those cards. So everyone bought $15 Disney cards for $10 each.

It is important to be considerate. Any more than about 4 would be a nuisance, so take it to the customer service line, where longer waits are expected.

As far as me, I took advantage of this deal back in May, so I'll hold off this time. My trip is in 6 months, and this deal seems to come back every 2 months or so. If nothing better comes by December 1st, I'll cash in on the next promotion.

I went to the Round Rock store on 79( Super HEB Plus). They didn't know anything about it and would not refund me my money. Went to another Heb in Round Rock 620/ O'Connor and they had no sign but Catalina printed out and I purchased 5 cards $440. I still have a $15 coupn. There was no problem cascading but the store was pretty busy and I didn't want to hog the line.
I am in North Austin near Plugerville..... would like to get some more cards if I have time tonight when the store is not too busy. Which Pflugerville store did you go to?

Glad that you were able to find a store with this offer . . . Would you mind posting the Corporate number of the store? My SIL and I are thinking we might take a road trip after dinner, and would like to be able to head straight to the right store!

The 620 O'connor store is on Highway 620, about 4-5 miles west of the I-35 620 exit. When you pass the hospital, you are getting close.

Strang, I went to super HEB on 79 and got the deal on Sunday and the first time this was posted I got the deal at this same store. I have no idea why it worked on Sunday and not today:guilty: I was thinking of going back for more this evening, I guess not:sad2: sorry you got the runa round.:scared:

After reading this I decided to go back to HEB Plus seeing as I had to pass it to pick up my son from band practice. I got the deal no problem, I used the coupon from Sunday and got $100 for $85 and another coupon printed.

Really sorry your having problems with this store:confused3

Not working well thus far. I don't know why. First time it worked. Second time no coupon.

I definitely didn't hog the line. I only did TWO max of the gift cards at a time because the store was busy and I was in the 10 items or less lane, and there were people with only a couple things each, behind me. Luckily I got a sweet young cashier last night that had to close her lane down due to going home and let me stay to do 4 more at the end, all at once. :)

I went back tonight and it was a nightmare and a half. I just wanted to get a couple more and I went to the wrong checkout. Sadly worn looking person working who didn't seem to care that their Catalina machine had a three foot long strip of blank paper hanging out. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this myself until after purchasing my $100 card for $85 and no coupon printed out due to no ink in the machine. It turned into a 40 minute wait at customer service with very unfriendly persons who were disgruntled at having to call Catalina to get a force-code to make it print me another coupon. Super frustrating, I thought I was going to blow my top.:furious: Finally they got it working and I got my coupon. So aggravating but then I got another young competent cashier who was able to do the rest of my cards in about 2 minutes.

Anyway, congrats to everyone who got in on this deal. It was a great one! :cheer2: If it wasn't in your Texas region this time, maybe next time. The deal seems to shift around by season.

My Pflugerville store is #479, the one on FM 685, at Pecan. Not the Wells Branch Pflugerville store, although they may have the same thing going.

I had the same problem on one of mine but customer service was no help. They told me to call in the morning. But the rest worked fine. I went through and got at the back of the line after each one.

Thanks to everyone who posted about this! SIL and I trekked up to Round Rock from San Antonio, and a little more than four hours later we each have 16 $100 Disney gift cards. I think (someone good at math correct me if I am wrong) we saved $240 on the cards, plus we both have the Chase card that is giving 5% back on purchases at grocery stores, for another $80. We spend about $20 in gas, but SIL really, really wanted to go--she is not a regular HEB shopper and she just couldn't believe that this deal would work. (Not that she though you all were making it up, but she just wanted to see for herself.) Now she will keep an eye on the HEB ads and on the disboards, and hopefully next time she can just go around the corner to the HEB--those stores are everywhere! We passed about 10 HEBs just on the drive up, and we thought about stopping but figured it was better just to head straight to the store where people had reported success. We went through the line (separate lines) 4 times, and had to call Chase after about 3 cards to explain that the transactions were not fraudulent, but after that it was a piece of cake!

I am glad that so many were able to get in on this deal...I got 18 cards myself. I also got some Amazon and Southwest Airlines cards. I will definitely post whenever I find this promotion live again.

Nice job. Is the Chase card you are referring to the Chase Freedom card, that had 5% off groceries from April-June? Even if you have one (Disney Premier Visa 3 month promo?) that has 5% off groceries for July, it likely has a limit (usually $1500, less than you each spent). A limit that most people reach without this type of purchase. For me, the groceries promotion is the only one I ever reach the $1500 max without trying. So when calculating my savings, it was just the $15 off + the standard 1% off all purchases.
