News Round Up 2016

Ah....nice article. Had been checking it out on google earth, now I see the station to the north west where the queue must be. Pretty cool version.

Didn't Disney strike a deal with the Chinese government to address stuff like this?
I am not sure if they struck a deal but I believe there were talks. This is something that is hard to prevent. It appears its not inside the parks of course but outside which Disney may have a tough time controlling.

As we near the years end this 2016 News Round Up thread will come to a close and a new one for 2017 will begin. I want to take this time over the next few weeks to thank all of those who have contributing into making this thread great. I also want to ask all of you for any tips, suggestions, comments, or concerns about possible changes for the 2017 version. If nothing needs to change that's fine too. I just want to see if there is anything people think that could make the 2017 thread even better.

Thanks,
Ryan

From personal experience, the queue and loading station are on the main shore. The train pulls out and immediately dips into a tunnel to the island. The lift hill pulls you above the island. Once the ride nears completion, another tunnel brings you back to the main station on shore.

Pretty sad that Disney essentially relegated control of their brand to or is at the mercy of the Chinese government. It will be interesting to see how Disney manages this...

Part of me just wants to say "serves them right, and they are getting what they deserve". Disney and so many other companies have been stumbling all over themselves to get into the Chinese market the last handful of years, while essentially dismissing the US market. However, the other part of me realizes that all problems over there eventually will have negative consequences to operations here. #thanksshanghai

Well there was a news story a week or so ago that China is about to take over as the world leader in the theme park market. Disney isn't the only company taking advantage of that either, Universal and several others recently opened or are building theme parks.
