***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

We're bringing DD8 and DS2.
We will be using extra MB for SDFP. I don't have expectations of getting any of the tier 1 or popular rides but if we do, great. We're hoping to use them for the rides for our 2yo. Things like Dumbo, Triceratops spin, etc. These rides usually don't have crazy standby lines but if we can use a SDFP rather than wait even 20 minutes in regular standby line, then it's worth it to me.
that's my feeling too. FP is still faster than a 20-40 minute standby, which is not outrageous but is hard for my son.

Yep. SDFP is just icing on the cake for us. No biggie. If a,b,c are not available, we will gladly take d,e,f. I think if everyone utilizing it has realistic expectations they won't be disappointed.

in MK there are SO many rides that it is possible to get some great SDFP. I could have gotten buzz for 11:50 (back at 11:40) and right now there is a 55 minute wait. this is a win all around (this is also a ride my child loves and would do multiple times in a trip).

I would say that Jungle cruise, Buzz, space mountain, splash mountain, and peter pan (usually they have LATE FP available) are the most worth FP for higher standby times. they have the least availabity.

second tier I'd be targeting Pooh, tomorrowland speedway, haunted mansion, pirates, magic carpets of aladdin.

You and @Lisa F are really convincing me on this! :D But $30 shipping... I still need to wait to buy the magicbands!

Since you can't pre select the same day fastpass, you could buy them on your disney parks app a few days before you arrive and have delivered to your hotel room for free :-) From what I understand, with the Disney Parks app, the option for scheduling delivery to your room shows up a little before your check in. Then you don't have to worry about the expensive shipping! They'd be ready for you first day in park.

Hmmm. With an 11:50FP available at 11:40 and a 55 min. wait. That tells me that very few people are using SDFP.

If I passed by that line with a 55 min. wait and was considering riding it. I think I would:
-head to a kiosk and snag the SDFP
-grab a snack/drink
-stop for a bathroom break with the kids
-stop for a Memory Maker pic. if any photographers were in sight
-call my Mom and Dad just to say hi
-get on Buzz and ride it
and it would STILL be quicker than waiting in that line!

$30 shipping IS pretty steep. Forgive me for not knowing but are you outside the US? Is that why it's so expensive? Disney Store (online as well as brick and mortar stores) sell them. Not sure if there's one near you though.

Edit to add:
I believe they are also for sale IN the parks. So worst case, you could buy them on your first park day and head straight to a FP kiosk and "get down to business"

Canada. Unfortunately, that's international. I was just playing with it again and it can't be shipped internationally either. I have a Disney Store close to me but they do not sell it there. I probably will just buy it in the parks :) Thanks!

I'll probably do this when I get to Universal (first part of our trip), thanks for the tip!! :) @Mintycake just in case you need this info too :D

For those interested in trying to help each other snag/cancel ADRs and the talk about managing a spreadsheet, what do you think about a spreadsheet in Google docs that any of us can edit to add our info? Posting the link here means that anybody can access and edit the doc. While people could change info just to mess with people, there's no real security issue to give outsiders the ability to change an actual ADR. We'd still have to contact each other via PM here on the DIS to arrange coordination.

I made a sample Google spreadsheet just to see if anybody thinks this option might work.

You guys can look on TP to see availability of SDFP. I have been convinced of them being extremely useful since I found out about them.

Just make sure when you buy them that they are unlinked.... I've heard of CM trying to be helpful when you buy then on site wanting to link them for you. They need to be linked to a phantom account... either another name on your MDE or a second MDE .
I choose all yellow bands for the SDFP. They will be linked to phantoms on my MDE

Me too! This exchange going on @Lisa F and @Party.Of.4-NY>>>FL has me in the SDFP boat. I was thinking it was too complicated, but it's sinking in!! :-)
Ha ha that's funny. My first impression of SDFP was the same as yours. But after a while, I realized its really pretty simple. Only thing that could get confusing is if you have a bunch of different color MBs. Could get tricky keeping track of "original" MBs vs. SDFP MBs.

For my family if 4, we each have our own color "original" MBs. Then for all of our SDFP MBs we chose green for all 4. Figured we're going in December so we'll let the kids paint some Christmas-themed decorations on them or something.

I created a completely different MDE profile.(different email, different password, different (fake) family of 4)
So if you do it this way. The only thing to be super careful about is if you have Memory Maker. DON'T make a mistake and let photographer scan your SDFP MB. You will not get your pics because there is no Memory Maker attached to "fake" family in MDE.

Really like this! I added the two that i'm actively looking for and my wishlist PPO BOG breakfast. I will have things to cancel but not ready to let go of some of my things just yet until I figure out FP and plans.

I get the basic gist I think but some details hasn't quite sank in with me yet... LOL! So since I'm too chicken to ask on the SDFP thread... has anyone tried using SDFP with a toddler's band? I have my toddler's bands which I read I could use it for SDFP. But they are linked to my toddler so even if we have 2 resort reservations, they will be clones and is usable for one set of SDFP... My question is since it's linked to my toddler already (and not to phantoms), how will I manage this? Are you able to use SDFP without phantoms? I thought that if you link magic bands to a profile, they are forever linked to that profile?

I have the same problem, I'm not quite ready to get rid of my extra ADRs until they start telling me what the schedule for DHS and AK are!! (not to mention FP and touring plans too) :)

That's so awesome! Thanks so much for doing that!! :yay:

I'm a total newb. Not an expert by any means but that's my understanding as well. Once a MB is linked to a profile, there is no way to unlink it.

When making your "real" (60 day) FPs did you make FP reservations for your toddler as well? For example if you are a family of 3, (2 adults, 1 toddler). Did you make a FP for 2 people or 3? I'm actually not sure if you have to count a toddler when making FPs. I know when making ADRs you DO have to account for any toddlers because of seating, fire codes, etc. I'm just not sure if the same rules apply to FP.

Anyhow, if you only made FPs for 2adults in above scenario, then your toddler's MB could be used for SDFP.

@SilSprBea Glad I could help with the auto train. It is expensive but it has worked out for us. It takes a long time but it's while you sleep. It certainly isn't perfect but it works for us for now. Maybe when my girls are older we'll fly. Last time we flew our flight got canceled and we didn't get rescheduled until the next morning. Meaning we missed a whole day at Disney.
