Looking to sell a LLBean Merchandise return gift card for cash...Giftcardgranny shows SaveYa is highest...has anyone here sold an unwanted gc on SaveYa? Looks like I have to serve a 60 day probationary period before I can get paid in PayPal, so I'd have to get a check sent to me....and they want my CC info, in case my card become a "bum" and they need to charge the money back from me. Don't mind the check part, but the CC info makes me a bit leery...
I tried using SaveYa once to sell some gas cards. After creating an account, putting in my credit card information (perfectly reasonable, since I understand Raise does the same thing to prevent "bum" cards and "draining" within their 100-day guarantee), inputting the gift card information, SaveYa denied the transaction because something triggered their anti-fraud software. I called and was routed to a call center, who basically told me to submit more info and try again later. For the $1 more that SaveYa offered over the next best offer, I was not going to deal with all the trouble of getting that sorted out so I asked them to cancel any pending transaction and delete my account, because I did not want SaveYa storing my credit card or gift card information.
I then went through Cardpool, which was a much smoother process online. However, then I mailed my physical gift cards to their processing center and didn't receive any check or response until I started hounding them about 2 weeks later. Cardpool's website says they send a check out the next business day after the gift cards are processed and verified, but that it can take 4-7 business days for USPS to deliver the cards to them, and another few days for the check to arrive. Cardpool's processing center is in Emeryville, CA, which is right across SF Bay from me, so it shouldn't have taken that long to deliver. Cardpool does not have a phone number that you can call to speak with an actual human. All contact is through their support email address, which they can take 48-hours to answer. When I finally received a reply, they told me they hadn't received the cards and asked if I had a tracking number so they can help me look for it. At that point, I was livid. $200 in gas cards were missing! When you submit your gift card sale, Cardpool provides a first-class shipping label and packing slip in PDF form -- but no tracking number -- nor do they advise you to purchase tracking at your own cost. If I had a tracking number, don't you think I would've tracked it myself? When I pointed this out to support in a rather terse reply, it took them another 2 days to reply during which time I received an automated email that informed me my cards have not arrived and reminded me to ship them out. I replied to that email with essentially the same complaints as I was having with support. So I was having 2 parallel conversations over this mess. After all that, I asked them to cancel this transaction.
Luckily, I still had the gift card numbers and purchase/activation receipts. I was able to contact the gift card issuer, provide some personal and gift card information, and they reissued a new card to me. About a week after I got my new card, Cardpool sent me an email notifying me that they received my gift cards, which I had asked the issuer to freeze, and on the transaction that I asked Cardpool to cancel. I ended up keeping the gas card to use on our road trip down to
Disneyland in November.
I know my story isn't very encouraging. It's a wonder to me how these gift card resellers attract so much inventory with the huge cuts they take, strict anti-fraud procedures that refuse legitimate sales, and poor customer service.
