Disney Gift Card Deals

Didn't someone post a month or so ago that this was risky?
Everything we have been doing involves risk. But I think that if you don't buy gift cards exclusively, then you are less likely to run into trouble.
Can you explain your plan more? I am not following how this would work.

And I agree that any new way anyone figures out will be closed sooner rather than later.
* Buy Walgreen cards on Ebay -> At Walgreens, use the gc to buy Paypal cards -> repeat, after loading paypal cards into account
* Requires you to buy other items on Paypal consistently. Would be good to buy other things at Walgreens as well.
* Since SVM charges $2 to mail each gc, only purchase during ebuck promotions
* Can cash out from Walgreens to Disney.

I know. I thought they said it was a good way to get banned from PayPal??? I could be remembering this incorrectly.

I know that when people were buying large numbers of gift cards from PPDG, there were problems. I haven't seen that adding money to your Paypal account and then using it to buy a gc was an issue, but I can see that if you suddenly start adding gift cards, it could raise a flag.

I've "heard" similar stories, although I cannot speak to their accuracy.

I can say, however, that getting banned by PayPal can be a major PITA. I believe they freeze all your PayPal assets for 6 months before you're allowed to even transfer them out.

Now that you mention this, I also recall reading something about this. I can't recall specifically what it was, but something along the lines of using Paypal gift cards to load into your paypal account then purchasing gift cards could cause some problems with the paypal account. I suppose I'd need to go back and search through posts for that info.

Thanks for explaining it all out. It does seem riskier than some of the other methods we have done but I might be willing to occasionally try this. I buy a lot on ebay, besides GC's, and I think that would be important.

I think what @MinMou is suggesting might be different than what was getting people banned.

Those banned were using eBay GCs to buy eGCs from PPDG, got tripped up in PPDG's verification loops, drew PP's attention to their purchase history, and got banned for apparently fraudulent activity.

MinMou is suggesting buying PP gift/prepaid cards from WG to load, essentially as cash, onto her PP account. The balance from the PP card would be treated by PP as a cash credit to the account, not a GC redemption that would then go toward buying eGCs.

I think the question is whether you can use a WG GC to buy a PP card (whether it's treated like a Visa/MC/Amex prepaid card or a regular GC).

I did go back and see a post from DIS_Meri saying that she had heard that using the Paypal cards were a faster way to get banned. I didn't find anything else.

I think that if you already have purchases pending on Paypal, and you load a Paypal card for the amount owed or less, you are probably OK. That said, I wouldn't change my buying pattern significantly, so as to not raise any red flags. I checked Paypal's acceptable use policy, and there is nothing against this. https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/acceptableuse-full Of Course, things can change, and all reviews by Paypal are subjective.

Thanks, Lain. I forgot that WG doesn't let you buy some GC's. This is still an unknown. I will check later today. If not, there's always Southwest and Disney gcs.

Since many loopholes have close as of lately I need help to figure out how to make the most out of a $200 pre paid Visa card we got from direct tv. It has been sitting in my wallet for a while and I figure I'll use it to get the remainder of GC we need for our October trip.

I'll look forward to hearing what you learn, but I'm fairly skeptical. PayPal is likely to be considered an open-loop card, and I don't know of anywhere that lets you buy open-loop with a GC. But even assuming that Walgreen's POS allows it, there's still the matter of an activation fee which cuts into your profits. If what I read online is true, it's $3.95 per reload. Then there's time to go to the store, gas, etc. Not a deal breaker in and of itself, per se, but eventually you need to ask if the extra aggravation and potential headaches of PayPal are worth making a few bucks (literally).

Here is a suggestion from yesterday:

Yes, as others have posted, this should work. As another option:

Buy $100 Visa card for fuel points, register card and add a pin (important step in order to use as a debit card)
Use redcard to order DGC from Target for 5% off.
Pay your redcard bill in store with the Visa debit card above.

Thank goodness I got lazy last night and didn't make it to Best Buy to convert $300. I guess those will become Disney rather than Ebay cards.

Like mhartman said, I came here this morning looking to see if there was an ebay promotion, and come to find out we got an ebay DEmotion. :(
In reading lots of posts about Paypal cards, I am wondering if there is one last way to churn that way. I'm thinking that if you purchased gcs via paypal, along with other items, we might still be able to shop on ebay, and churn through a back door.

Where can you get Paypal gcs besides mypoints/swagbucks/etc.?

I'm sitting on mostly Walgreens gc, with some BB and GS thrown in, so my guardian angel was watching over me. I'm not ready to cash out yet, but I am happy that I am not stuck with some totally useless cards.

To specifically answer your question of who else pays out with Paypal.
Some I use are: Ibotta, SavingStar, Receipt Hog, Find & Save and Field Agent. I'm sure there are many others.

I did not know that you got 5% off on the DGC's are Target! and the funny thing is that I've been buying them for an upcoming trip! But I usually have it on the same shopping order as everything else so I never noticed. Woot! lol :earboy2:

I had no idea I could pay my red card bill with a debit card. Thank you!

Getting banned from PayPal sucks big time! I had made one purchase for the church I work for (with my church credit card) and that card became tied to my PayPal account. Now, if the church wants to use the credit card on it's PayPal acct, we have to get a new credit card number and *hope* paypal doesn't catch the address matching. Not to mention the $30 I had to pay my bank to block my checking account from PayPal, since you can't remove any of your info once they ban you. PITA - no joke!

JUST GOT $200 PAYPAL GC WITH WG GC!!!

Sorry for all caps, just SO EXCITED!!:mickeyjum

That's great! But between the $1.99 shipping per $100 WG GC and $3.95 PP activation fee, the overhead eats up a lot of the bonuses. It would seem it's in your interest to load as much as you can onto the PP card per activation, but we think WG's POS doesn't like $500 GC transactions. So maybe $400 is a sweet spot?
