Oh! Here's my skirt fabric:

Sorry for the multiple posts. I'm doing this from my phone.

Working on one of my race weekend outfits today - so, excuse the rough cardstock template ... I don't want to cut the HTV until I'm certain of how I want it to look!

This is my World of Color top:

I'm debating it on white and maybe instead doing it on a pink or teal (think sunset-ish) color that goes with the fabric in my skirt.

Thoughts?

Sorry for the multiple posts. I'm doing this from my phone.

First of all, just let me say :lovestruc

Personally I just prefer pink and teal to yellow lol! But if you're going to go with a white top, one of them might stand out better than yellow.

I loved your idea of the black top, but I can see what the issue would be there. White just seems a bit boring though for a show all about colour (black works because it's a night time show). Have you considered a coloured top, with a different coloured cut out?

Just my thoughts anyway, and I'm probably way overthinking it lol! The white top with the yellow around Mickey looks awesome as it is :thumbsup2

@Keels I love that! I'm nervous to wear a white shirt for the 5K just because I sweat so much (ew) so I don't know how it'll look after awhile. I think any of the colors you mentioned would look great!

Great work Ariel484!

I did make a start on my Jessica Rabbit outfit yesterday as planned. Remember how I was going to get a red sparkle skirt and just add some red sparkly material to an existing running top I had? Well, I got a bit crazy, and decided to make a whole dress from scratch! I unpicked one of my old cheap running tops to use as a pattern base, but changed the neckline into a sweetheart and gave it a bit of an A-line skirt (using an existing dress for an idea of how to cut it). Cut out the front and back panels, pinned it all together and tried it on. It looked amazing (if I do say so myself lol!)! Couldn't believe I'd just created that! But it was pretty tight through the hips. I added a couple of 'darts' (ie cut out a couple of triangles and added them to the sides), so hopefully it will be ok now. My new sewing machine was perfect - so much easier than hand sewing (and I never would have attempted this if that had been my only option). So far I've just attached the darts to the front panel. So now I've just gotta sew the panels together and hem the edges. Can't wait to see what it looks like when it's finished!

This morning I went out for my weekly sprint intervals. It was absolutely freezing and there was frost everywhere (well, from what I could see in the dark). By the time I left for work, the outside temperature (according to my car) was right on 0 degrees (that's 32 Fahrenheit). No wonder I was so cold - it was literally freezing!
Thanks! :goodvibes Your dress sounds amazing! I can't wait to see it!! I am so impressed with those of you that can sew.
Great ! You did it!
TRX does me in, I adjusted my classes so I don't have a class before my back to back run. Did it once and my legs were so heavy. Great you pulled through it!
This week's run schedule I am trying to get my mind around it , trying to get the negative thoughts out. My naturopath has me on a 2 week cleanse to clear some med out of my body. Went for a maintenance run with the group this morning really hard . I did 5 and 1's normal 10 and 1's . I will get through this knowing you have done it will help me. Thanks!
Volunteering is great for the soul! Nice job!
Thanks! :goodvibes I'm so glad I finally volunteered for a race. Makes me want to do it again! I've always wanted to volunteer for one at Disney...but I love running them too much so that may never happen!

Yeah, we had a substitute teacher in TRX, and I have had her before for other classes...she seemed to focus more on lower body stuff than my normal teacher (which I am more than okay with) and I didn't realize how sore I was until later that day. It's amazing that I can feel it that much just using my body weight and no dumbbells or anything.

---------------------------------

I think I've hit the wall over here. :faint: I am such a wimp when it comes to heat - I think I mentioned earlier that we have had a WONDERFULLY mild summer here in Ohio and this was our first hot weekend, and my body doesn't seem to like it! I feel wiped today! So I had myself a little stretchfest this morning instead of my run...I think my body needed that.

One other thing I forgot to mention from my long run yesterday was that this was the longest run I'd been on with my Bluetooth earphones (Plantronics BackBeat Fit) and I had to take them out by mile 8 because they were hurting my ears, enough that I don't want to use them anymore. :( They've hurt on each of the 4-5 runs I've used them for and I've tried to adjust them, and now I think they just won't work for me. They also disconnected from my phone 3-4 times - it seemed to happen whenever I'd get an email or other notification. I don't know if that's normal for Bluetooth earphones, but it doesn't happen at home when I use my phone with a Bluetooth speaker...so that was really annoying. I've passed the return period on them, which stinks...I wish I could get that money back.

What I did do instead was order the pair I'd been originally been looking at - Beats By Dre Powerbeats2. There's a deal on Groupon right now where, with tax added, the price is about a 20% discount. I've been looking at those earphones for almost a year (was really hoping for a good Black Friday deal that never came) and this is the best price I've seen, so I hope I like them!

If anyone else is interested, here's the link. Looks like the deal is good for a few more days.

Dislike that you have to rest but LIKE that you're still determined to get to those races!!

Thanks Ariel!! At least I was able to relax at the beach and not worry about getting my training runs in.

Rest is sometimes good, so don't worry! You still have August to get back out there and DL and the medals will be waiting! :goodvibes

Thanks Kim3339. The medals, the experience, and seeing everyone will be awesome!

Sorry to hear that. I agree though that rest can really be good for you sometimes. And your determination will get you through :thumbsup2

Thanks zanzibar138.....it's so hard to stay off my feet....never knew rest could be a four-letter word!

thanks everyone for the kind thoughts.

Ypur dress sounds incredible! Can't wait to see it!

I think pink or teal would help the Mickey face pop more. White works, he just gets lost a tad.

I'm loving all of the costume updates! You all are so creative. :lovestruc Now I feel like I should come up with something, too!

On the training front for the 10k, I took the past two weeks off completely due to traveling for work + cold/flu and worried about being able to run even 1 mile when I resumed training. I successfully ran 4 miles without issues yesterday! About 30 seconds slower than my normal pace, but the temperature and humidity were unusually high at 6:30 AM. I was (and still am) surprised at how good I felt during the run! :teeth:

This is the first time I've ever made a whole garment from scratch. I've never had a sewing machine before, so usually I just stick to simple alterations that are easy enough to hand sew. Will be interesting to see how this turns out in the end!

I'm feeling a bit exhausted this week too. Glad it's my 'easy' week (I accidentally started my program a week early, so I decided to repeat week 1 at the halfway point - it is now the halfway point ). Hang in there - not long to go now!

I've actually been too nervous to run with headphones. I've been tempted lately, but I just can't get past wanting to be fully aware of my surroundings. I have to do a fair bit on the road though before I get to the trail (it's about 10km just to the trail and back lol!). Maybe if it was all trail I'd be happier to try it.

That's great! It's amazing how easy it is to pick it up again once you've got a good base :thumbsup2

Finished my tops tonight! I'm pretty happy with how they came out, seeing as HTV doesn't really want to take to tech fabric.

Plus, my Mouseketeer ears came in!
image.jpg

I just finished pinning my skirts together, so hopefully I can get them sewn and fitted either tonight or tomorrow.

43 days to go! It's almost here!

@Keels - I cannot wait to see your World of Color skirt!!

Not gonna lie ... I'm seriously considering switching WoC to my half marathon outfit because of how it's all shaping up.

The only thing keeping me with it as the 5K outfit is, because of timing, pictures may look better by the fountains if I wear it for the 5K ...

Does anyone know when park hours will come out? The calendar is loaded but blank so I am hoping soon.

Well week #12 done. Thanks Ariel kept thinking of you to help me with the 11 miler this morning. This cleanse kicking the you know what out of me. It was a tough and rough run the girls helped me along reached 14km and hit the wall. 4km to go was a really long time but listened to my body legs were really heavy. Kept thinking of Ariel and she completed so I must! I did it not my prettiest run but I dragged myself to that 18 km marker. Was so glad when my Garmin buzzed. Anyone reading this , this proves that fueling with the proper food is a must. Start your research and find out what works for you. I usually fuel with potatoes my carb, but on this cleanse no potatoes! Really seeing how food can help you through and how important it is. Okay I'm off my soap box stand! I did it!! Glad this week is behind me. Another week and half to go on this cleanse from my naturopath. Looking forward to that day.

I can see your dilemma :scratchin

Usually it's about 45 days out, but it can be closer to 30 days out before they are actually finalised and all the show times are up.

Well done on getting through! Is it worth talking to your naturopath? As you discovered, it's really important that you're getting the right nutrition for distance running, and that definitely includes carbs! I'd hate for you to make yourself sick.

Thanks Zanzibar yes under watch of naturopath he knows my training schedule it will suck for the next little bit but it will be better. The only silver lining of this is I talk to our running group about nutrition all the time and they saw first hand what could happen. It is really embarrassing being leader of our group but I did fore warn them it may happen. I have dropped from my 2 classes a day to 1. Running in the heat is not helping. No worries I am under Dr.'s care. Digging deep right now mentally.

I have an unofficially app that will have the hours starting tomorrow; I canost them when they show up. My guess is Fri-Sun will be 8/9-11/12.

Yeah - I think this is likely. The only change from last year will likely be Thursday with DLR closing at 9 because of the Anniversary Party. I've been stalking those days to see if there would be a F!, but with no dining packages available, it looks unlikely.

its mixed emotion when your gut that there is a tiny shard of glass embedded in your foot is in fact true.. wish it wouldve been found earlier and not derailed a week of training but hopefully back on track tomorrow to keep trying to rescue floundering race training plans...
