My WooHoo today is that we got a lot of trick-or-treaters - 35 kids and 6 pups! :tigger: I had a fun time handing out candy and only ate a bite-sized dark Kit Kat and some Skittles.

My goals this month are to:
Drink more water (I've gotten really lax),
Keep exercising in spite of of the early sunsets (I have a treadmill, after all  ), and

Start practicing some new things I'm learning in a Jin Shin Jyutsu class.

Happy Samhain... which marks the end of the harvest and the passing into the dark days of winter. And it does get dark around these parts.

Woohoo... my town knows how to do Halloween right. Starting at 4p yesterday, the core downtown streets were blocked off and everyone gathered for a parade and trick-or-treating. Both kiddos and adults were dressed up, I just had my witch's hat on because it hadn't even occurred to me that adults would also suit up, but now I know for next year. And woohoo my candy bowl was totally empty this morning.

Woohoo... my hair has grown out to the point where I have bangs and if I flat iron the sides it is starting to look like a bob, even tho a lot of layers still need to fill in.

Woohoo... this is a big transitional work week for me with moving to my new job responsibilities. As such I have one meeting on my calendar today, one that I booked to chat with another TPM.

And woohoo... I'm getting a massage early this afternoon, and in the early evening I'll be doing a Samhain Releasing ceremony, where you write down things that are no longer serving you that you need to let go of (sugar) on slips of paper and then burn them. I think it'll be an important turning point for me getting back on track with healthy living.

PS: Earlier in the week CNN put out an article on the most haunted towns in each state and my town was featured for Washington... fun times!

I missed out on all the festivities last night. Elizabeth had her college class. I am woohooing that ELizabeth and Nick are feeling better. Nick got sick Sunday. He had a fever and congestion. Test for Covid was negative. He stayed home Monday but was feeling much better. Last week on Wednesday, Elizabeth complained of her legs and arms going numb. This really wasn't the case they just felt weak and not right and it was only her hand and feet. This has happened before so we were just watching it. Well on Saturday She got a migraine. She was in tears because it hurt so bad and didn't want to be alone. She did go to my moms with us but she was miserable. On Monday I took her to the doctor because the hands and feet thing. They think it is all the migraine. She still had the headache on Monday and I think Tuesday she finally started to feel better. She is back to her normal self today and she hasn't mentioned anything about the numbness feeling. Now lets just hope no one gets what Nick had.

I am not woohooing the snow today. We had about 2ish inches this morning. I am not ready for snow. Good thing it is already almost melted and we will be back up into the 50s later this week.

Woowhoo for a good, albeit cold, night last night. Kids had fun and one of the schools is doing a candy collection so some of it will leave my house.
DD really enjoyed using her device to say trick or treat this year, she got it after Halloween last year. She was so funny...the boys were quite leery of scary looking houses....she went right up no problem.

Goals keep up with averaging 5000 steps a day, 6000 at least once a week
Continue to practice mindful snacking and paying attention to portion size
Keep up with jeans feeling "not tight" out of the dryer

WOO HOO two more work days.

On Saturday while we were removing wallpaper and painting the kitchen, I was wearing an old sundress because it was in the high 70's- low 80's. Fast forward 4 days overnight the temperatures are dropping into the 20's. I mean...this is nuts. Needless to say, the heat is on. I just wasn't ready to put my winter coat on today. Ugh.

Today was okay, but the PD was beyond annoying. I used my second laptop to work on report cards while I listened to the most boring training session ever. At least I got some work done.

Goal for November:
Lose the weight gained on prednisone

Whooohooooo DD and I are in Disney!!!

So far everything has been great!! Our flight was uneventful yesterday and we got our room ready text on the bus at 10am so that was amazing!

We were in Hollywood studios by 12pm, took a nap break at 230 and back at the park by 430. Saw Fantasmic for the first time in our lives-we LOVED it! I asked a cast member for assistance on how the seating worked and she said “Is this your first time seeing the show” we said “Yes!” And she escorted us to the reserved seating section!!! We had literally the BEST seat!

It was absolutely freezing here last night. I never thought I was going to warm up!! Today is better, the sun is out so that’s a plus-yesterday was cloudy all day which contributed to the cold for sure.

So happy to hear you're having a great time@

I’m thankful that just like every school year, I survived the first two months of school and now my little monsters have become more civilized. There are those couple of naughty naughties who I still am working on, and the child born addicted to drugs who can’t function in my classroom without hurting others. But the majority are amazing. I’m so proud of them. I’m grateful that they have responded to everything I work so hard to do for them.

Thankful for the remind app! DD's teacher was able to share a video of her saying some letters! And she told us DD also said bear and owl! DH got her to go through about half the Alphabet tonight...of course while I wasn't in the room.

Thankful for co-workers who cheered and cried with me watching the video. And who volunteered to run a 5k with DS11 next summer.

Thankful the the roof over our head and the clunk clunk of our heat when it turns on. As much as it pained me to have to turn it on before November 1st glad it is available to us. Thankful for heated seats...the new car has them and its awesome....made getting stuck in traffic while listening to the annoying head of tech mansplain a simple concept for 10 minutes (which could have been 2) almost bearable :scared:

Progress is my mindset right now. One marking period down, and I see a lot of progress in my classroom. I see students learning how to behave, at least with me. They walk all over my 1/2 day paraprofessional. I see progress in learning English. 70% of my students are English language learners, and children who didn’t speak or understand one word of English are beginning to acquire it now. I see them improving in all academic areas. I see teamwork and a sense of community developing.

My kitchen renovations are progressing nicely. The appliances and countertop are in and the painting is halfway finished. The ceiling needs to be replaced, but that will be done hopefully in the spring.

Now I need to see progress in my weight loss. I was at my lowest weight in 20 years in September, and I saw myself breaking personal records by Christmas. Then prednisone’s side effects put weight on me that will not budge at the moment. I’m trying not to get discouraged, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t. I’m actually really upset about it. I know I must put it behind me, but I am stuck. I need to get back on track and stay on course in spite of the scale not moving in the right direction. Ugh.

I'm thankful for the kick-in-the-pants I got yesterday, to push my along the road back to healthy habits.

I think I've already mentioned this, but a couple weeks ago I joined Classmates and just got back in to Facebook, to see if there was going to be a 50th (what the heck) year class reunion next year. There is, and things have heated up this week with a planning meeting coming up soon. The main organizer is a guy who was in my social circle but I've realized I really didn't know... we did some stupid kid stuff together but I don't recall ever talking directly with him and have no idea what kind of student he was or if high school was a good experience for him. I was intrigued that he would chose to be an organizer and poked around his FB page a bit... he seems to be very happy and something I never would have expected, turned out to be a daughter daddy. This has triggered a lot of re-evaluation of thoughts and ideas that I've been carrying around, including bringing up more long held thoughts about myself... all really good work to be doing.

Anyway, last evening I received an email from him about going to the planning meeting... I was like wow!, and it really got me spinning. As it turns out he triggered something in Classmates to email all the class alumni, so ha ha, jokes on me. I can't attend the meeting but responded that I might be able to participate in the future.

After getting back in to FB, I realized that even tho I haven't been there in 6+ years, my SIS and SIL have been tagging me in pictures all along... really awful looking pictures that have forced me to realize how heavy I really was, and how much losing the weight that I have lost has changed to way I look. And I want more of that, a lot more.

Over the weekend I'm going to start a juice cleanse, because I feel like I need something drastic and very structured. It's one where you can have a small clean lunch, so should be doable, and boy does my body need to get clean.

I wanted to like your post for the kids' progress, then sad face it because of how you're feeling about the prednisone weight. - Please remember it is not your fault! Take a break from the scale if you can and just let your body heal for a little bit.

And you have done wonderful things with, and for, those kids! Your ELL students will always remember you, and how you were the person who helped them fit in and feel like they could thrive here.
