Received email about closings at CBR - help!!

We considered moving into cbr. With a 14 night stay that is $1050 gift card!

But, alas, nothing available at all for 5 people for Aug 5-19

Got the email from my TA. Below are the three options...

OPTION 1: You will receive a $75.00 Disney gift card, per night, if you
choose to stay at Caribbean Beach from May 1st on. This is for any for any
inconveniences that you may incur during your stay.

OPTION 2: If you don't want to take the $75 credit and you want to be
moved, without paying extra (same rate as CBR), you cannot choose where
you are moved to. You must be sure that you want to be moved, at the same
rate, and Disney will let us know within 3 weeks or so where you will be
moved to. You can't change your mind and decide that you want the $75
credit and stay at Caribbean Beach Resort once the decision has been made.
It will definitely not be a standard room at a value as in All Stars or
Pop, however there is the chance of being moved to a suite at AOA, another
moderate resort, or a deluxe resort. Again, you can't pick where you will
be moved to. Disney has a lot of moving parts in this process, and they
are simply moving people where they can.

OPTION 3: If you would like to explore other options with our Agency
Exclusive discount offer, or with any other offers that Disney may have
out there, we can cancel your Caribbean Beach Resort reservation and book
a new reservation at a resort of your choosing.

I chose to stay at CBR and take the $75/night gift card. The extra $525 spending money will come in very handy for us!

Recived this same email from our TA as well. Would love to hear if anyone chose option 2 what resort they were offered. Our trip isin't until Dec 23, I'm thinking of waiting until we hear how bad the construction will be and what the food offerings are like. Not sure what to do right now....

It's weird that you guys are being offered no choice on where you can move to.

I switched to a studio at ssr and paid to do so before further info came out..

Called up yesterday..cm was definitely stressed however pleasant enough and stated I could have ssr at the price of cbr-however when revised invoice came through its not reduced?!?!?

So I shall be listening to tunes again later & hopefully issue resolved.

Were you able to get this taken care of? I'm going through the same thing with our switch to AoA. I spent over an hour on hold last night and they weren't able to figure it out. Someone is supposed to call back today

Since I have older kids if we were going as a family I don't think it would bother me to stay at CBR, now I can tell my kids please calm down you will live when we get to the next resort. Now for families with younger kids I could see where it could be a huge cause for concern. With that I would take the $75 per day!!

I got an email today from Disney about my September reservation at CBR, but when I opened it it had all the information about the Grand Californian renovation at Disneyland. Did anyone else get this?

Friend of mine going end of may. Booked at CBR. Just got email about her stay at the Grand Californian at Disneyland. What???? Oh boy what a hot mess.

I was advised again I can definitely move at no extra cost-and therefore have ssr at the cost of cbr
However-the invoice system and the back workers are not quite working at the same speed...

The cm was insistent it was no problem-it would simply take up to 10 working days to have the new & updated & reduced(!) version.

I'm going back and forth on what to do. We currently have two rooms booked in Sept for 5 nights. (Will this make them moving us more difficult if we chose that route?) There are 7 of us (3 adults, 4 kids). We really don't want the inconvenience of no food court--our routine is eating breakfast there every morning and grabbing snacks in the evening.
We've always stayed at CBR, never anywhere else, although we talk about trying somewhere new. So I know nothing about any other resort. If I were to call and they offered a different resort, I feel like I'd be going into our vacation not sure of whether we'd like where we're staying. I know, I know...it's Disney and I'm sure they're all great & we should just be happy to be there. :p
Any advice? Sorry for rambling.

P.s. I should mention we're taking my mom and my 12yr old niece for their first times. This is what's difficult because I just want things to be perfect. This construction news really threw a wrench in things.

I understand you, that is where you are comfortable you know your way around and it just feels right for your family. Depending on the ages of the kids you might have to consider moving , like I said my kids/ young adults 21/17 we could manage but they could be cranky too LOL. I would do research just to see what would fit for you. Wish you the best!!

We were in the same boat as you.....3 rooms rented for August with the intention of spending a good amount of time at the resort. We ended up switching and booking 2 rooms at the Poly because I was tired of stressing over the what ifs. Sorry you are dealing with the uncertainty of what to do. For what its worth I have stayed at POR, POLY, and CSR and I had a great time on all my vacations so I think if you should decide to move you will settle in fine. I have not stayed in the FW cabins or Saratoga (I think those are also being offered for a lateral move), although my cousin owns DVC at Saratoga and says it is very nice. I too love CBR and was disappointed when the news came out, but we had preferred rooms booked and it didnt sit well with me to pay the rate we were to deal with it. Good luck with your decision. I am sure whatever you decide it will work out.

I'm glad you understand.
Kids ages are 14, 14, 12, 12. Plus my 62yr old mother, my hubby and I.

I probably missed this, but if you booked a room at CBR via Orbitz will you receive the 75$ gift card per night as well? I see that those that booked via a TA are.

TIA.

Take a look at all of the different resorts being offered and have an idea before you call about what looks best for your family. With having 7 people, you would not fit in a single cabin or suite at art of animation, however since you were in 2 rooms at CBR, they might offer you 2 cabins/ suites. With either of the Port Orleans resorts you would be in 2 rooms. With Saratoga, they might offer two studios or you could ask for a 2 bedroom villa which would have a king in one bedroom, typically 2 queens (but sometimes a queen and a queen pull out sofa) in the 2nd bedroom, a living room with a queen pull out couch, 2 full baths (one of which has a jacuzzi tub), a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and a balcony. That may be something to consider for the extra space and to guarantee you all would be together since there's no guarantee you could get two rooms next to each other at another resort. Also, take a look on allears.com or Disney's website at the quick service options available.

Thank you for the information. I do plan on looking at all the ones currently being offered before I make a call. I want to at least have some idea of what they're talking about when they tell me which one.
My next concern is how quick I should be making this call? Don't want to wait too long bc I'd hate to hear there is nowhere else to move us.

I wouldn't wait super long, but I wouldn't think September would be booked up within the next week or two for every resort being offered. You've still got around 6 months before you travel, so you don't need to rush into a decision, but I'd recommend calling in the next couple of weeks at the latest.

Received and e-mail today from Disney regarding our August trip. It verified we will get the $75 per night gift card, and keep our bounce back free dining! This is a 12 night trip so we're looking at $900 in gift cards plus the free dining! Honestly, we were thinking of moving, but knowing the pools are open, and we don't really eat at the resort anyway, this is one HECK of a deal!

If you change your mind there will plenty of options.
