I waited to decide about buying into DVC until after our trip which so happened to be over the dreadful April 4th... I come back and wanted to go through with it only to find out about the changes. After being disappointed for a few weeks, I decided it still made sense even if I am a "second-class" member. Wish me luck:

JHank44---$108-$24,101-210-BLT-DEC- 26/15, 210/16, 210/17 – sent 4/27
Seller pays MFs on 88 points for 2016.
Dont feel like a "second class" member! We just made the cutoff and I was really excited about it! Until I actually looked at what they are. I could be wrong but the incidentals don't seem that great to me. The only real perk is the discounted AP, which I wouldn't really ever get to benefit from because we only go down once a year. The dining discount would have been great but half the restaurants we go to don't accept the DVC discount anyway. So your not missing out on much, in my opinion. Maybe once I actually start being able to utilize it I would feel differently.

:thumbsup2 I have the Disney Debit card from Chase that gives many of the same discounts that we lose. I think anyone can get it with a Chase checking account. The AP price difference is around $100, and I used it once before but the APs really require you visit more than 10 days a year, which many don't. Losing the incidental benefits probably costs me around $10 a year...thanks, but it's resale for me :goodvibes.

Yeah, the monetary value of membership extras is pretty low and why I decided resale was still the way to go. I just hate the feeling of being not getting access to the same stuff as other members. It's purely psychological and probably what Disney was going for.

I feel the same way !! In all honesty though to save 8k right off the bat is huge for us and the perks we lose are not why we are trying to join anyway . we want the villas and to know we can go for years to come !

Passed 4/21.
I have been worried about this, and the TimeShare Store never notified me that I had passed. They did not respond to my email on Wednesday asking about it. I finally called today, and they said, "Oh yeah Disney waived on 4/21. Didn't you get an email?"

That's ridiculous. I really wanted to use DVC Resale Market this time around, but the best contract was with the Timeshare Store. I've bought and sold through TTS and was never really that impressed with the process or their communication.

I am praying I close and have my member # by 7/31 so I can bank the 2015 points and they don't go to waste :crazy2: seller is international so not sure if that delays mailing documents, etc
Good luck!!! It depends which country they are from and how motivated they are...we are buyers in Canada, and we had our documents in for every contract before the sellers did!

That is an AWESOME price and it would take quite a few years of "perks" to even come near to catching up to your savings :flower:!

Well hello, Fixed Week At VGF Neighbour!!! LOL!

Congratulations! It's annoying that your contract slipped through the notification, but on the plus side- you are more than a week into the estoppel wait and you didn't even know it!

Contact your broker and explain that concern ASAP while you're inside the 10 day cancelation period. They should be able to resolve that issue so you don't lose the points.

First time going through this process and I think I've aged 10 years in the past 10 days! The waiting is excruciating and I've become obsessed with reading everything I can. So far these boards have been the one thing that help...along with a cocktail or two so I decided to participate rather than just stalk.
