Booking sept 20-26... My question is is if the free dining discount is not released until summertime, can you apply the discounts no matter how close to travel time it is?

No. They'll have a booking window and you'll have to book or apply the discount within that timeframe.

Someone once said nothing could be adjusted 60 days prior to travel date...does that sound right? So basically, I need the free dining promotion to come out late July or sooner in order to apply it to my booking?

Historically free dining deal has been released to the public in early May for the September time period.

We have been quite a few times in September. It is my FAVORITE time of year to visit WDW. The weather has been pretty hot (perfect for heading back to the resort to swim in the afternoon). And the crowds have been light - usually use Saturday as our travel day - the Magic Kingdom has been crowded on Saturdays during Sept. We have always been able to get Free Dining! If you have already booked, you can add free dining (as long as your room type is still available). Labor Day is late this year - some schools do not start until after Labor Day.

Traveling Sept can mean rain - usually late afternoon for a short amount of time. We always carry those cheap rain ponchos - from the Dollar Store. Perfect to stay relatively dry during a downpour! One time we were caught in a downpour on a boat from WL to MK. We could not have been more soaked if we jumped in the Lake! It was quite hilarious and the reason we carry rain ponchos now! I remember another guest on the boat turning to his mom and saying "and you were worried about your hair getting windblown". We were all laughing so hard!

I'm not sure what the 60 days means as far as package adjustment. Your package final payment is due 45 days before arrival. Your FP are scheduled at 60'days out.

As far as adjustments - once FD is on there, you can adjust it as you need. If you're changing dates it'll just need to be within the offer dates and it'll depend on availability with free dining at the time of the change. But it's definitely possibility. There may be penalties within 45 days depending upon what you're adjusting.

You don't need the promotion to come out at any specific time. They always time it well enough that you won't be in your 45 days period when you go apply it. As someone posted above, 2014 FD was released in May.

I believe I remember seeing this somewhere, but I can't seem to find it now. While we are on the topic of FD and packages, if I have a RO reservation, I'm not able to add FD once it comes out, correct? I would need a package to add FD? If I have my park tickets already, can I do a ticketless package to get my resort stay and FD? If there is a better thread for this, please let me know.

With that check in date you've got a really great chance! It's looking like we might be moving ours from late October to Sept 30th checkin, so we want Free Dining too!

We'lol be there 9/4-9/12. My birthday is the 10th so I'm very excited to finally celebrate my birthday at Disney! We're already booked for CBR (standard room) and hoping for at least free dining!

We plan on going to WDW this September We went once as a family in 2008, so it's been a while.

We are hoping to get FD. Should we book a room/package now and wait with crossed fingers? We were hoping to stay in POR, but it seems that was restricted from FD in the past :

So would it be best to book at CS (hoping its not excluded) or go ahead and book at POR and possibly have to change resorts? (Is that a big deal?)

One more...is is better to book directly through Disney, or should I go through an agent?

We'll be at POFQ from Sept 27th - Oct 7th with FD (booked the bounceback last year). We wanted to book a deluxe this time around, but with the CDN $ tanking the way it is, I'm pretty glad we decided to go moderate again for this Sept! Yikes.
