The 'Lost City' at Kings Canyon (Rim Walk), Watarrka National Park.

The domes, which make the plateau look like a lost city, are a result erosion of the vertical cracks in the sandstone geology found here. The fauna you see in the 'valley' below grow because there is a permanent water hole in this part of the canyon. There are cycads growing here that are relics of the rainforest that covered the area 50 million years ago. The Rim Walk is a 6 km round trip. This part of the walk is a little over the half-way mark. And yes. Those are people standing at the top of a dome in the left hand side!

DD and DGD's walk through these doors tomorrow...without ME! :sad1: :rotfl:Much deserved trip after a hectic 6 months and Pappy and I need the "alone time" to get ready for their return. Only a 1 night stay here before son-in-law joins them Friday at Kidani. The girls CAN'T WAIT to hear, "WELCOME HOME"...
