Happening Now.. People ruin the Magic

I had 2 teens turn on strobing light necklaces on TOT. Because it is so dark, the strobing lights made us nauseous. We were discussing how awful it was on our way out, and a CM stopped us, and asked if we wanted to ride again. We were escorted through a fake elevator door, and ushered onto our own elevator, where we rode alone. Our pictures were awesome, because it was just my family in the car. Sometimes ruined magic, can create a chance for new magic.

Recently on Splash Mountain, we had a couple of late teen boys who clearly had experienced the ride many times and were talking loudly about what was coming up next and then laughing hysterically at their stupid jokes. Then they made some rather explicit and insulting comments about various nationalities touring the park that day. There was a father and his young daughter sitting right in front of them and I was directly in back of them. My kids were all the way in the back. The poor girl never looked around and the father was more than likely hoping that these boys would shut up. But they never did.
Oh and the picture had them looking like they were asleep. That in itself is annoying because if they are that above it all, why go on it and ruin it for others?
Grrr... So irritating.

Can you imagine being the people stuck inside Space Mountain in the pitch black for 15 minutes?!? Ack!

We had this happen to us a few years back. We had young kids so they were not happy with the dark. You could also hear the couple behind us making out. I was really glad to get off the ride!

This has happened to us twice. Once on Splash Mountain, someone jumped out and the ride was stopped. Another time, we boarded the Jurassic Park ride at Universal and sat there for 15+ minutes because someone a few boats ahead of us had climbed out. We never got to ride. They unloaded us and shut down the ride.

Common courtesy doesn't seem so common anymore.

I hate it when people act that way. Why go to the Magic Kingdom, to cause a problem? My favorite slow ride is Small World, and once a couple of bratty teens (without parents) were behind us, ruining the ride by loudly complaining and joking about how "boring" it was throughout the entire ride. Hello? They're the ones who chose to get on a slow ride. I wish people who need constant thrills would stick to Six Flags or Universal and leave the rest of us to enjoy the magic at Disney.
AGREE!!!!!

I guess to each his own but for the life of me I can't imagine why anyone would willing go on Its a Small World:tilt:

This actually happened to my mom and sister about 30 years ago. They turned the lights on. My mom - my 5'3" mother - has never ridden the ride again because she's worried she'll get decapitated after seeing how closely stacked the tracks are. :rolleyes2

My biggest complaint about people ruining the magic is when people cut in front of you for the tram to the parking lot. It seriously happens all the time. I have found that it is much less stressful for me to just walk and skip the tram altogether.

We got stuck on Buzz Lightyear ride in MK for 10 min or so. The cars wouldn't spin but the lasers still worked. We scored 999,999. Galactic Hero's!!

Us too! We found a target worth 100,000 points and hit it so our scores went to 999,999 and then just sat there until we started moving again. On the plus side we know where it is and now aim for it each time to improve our score!

I get the first part of the post. I see photos all the time of people doing silly things on rides including sleeping. Not sure that is any worse than people having their arms up blocking the person behind them. I see that as someone just having fun. Plenty of more disturbing/annoying things done by park guests.

And yet it almost always has a long line. (I have even seen the wait over an hour for it). It's not my most favorite ride, but I do enjoy it. It's relaxing and it seems every time I ride it I see something new. That for me is now the excitement, to find something new. Okay, I will admit, by the end of the ride, the music is getting old (very old) and if I gut "Stuck" on this ride for an extended period I might have a different view.

You and probably everyone else on the ride too. :) I suppose there are worse rides to get stuck on.

Just a side note... I have been dying to experience the people mover with lights on during space mountain lol. Every time we go in there I wish the ride would stop and then lights would go on. However, at the same time, I realize how inconvenient this would be for others and their loved ones.

As Ron White would say.................you can't fix stupid!..........Its a shame peoples experiences on the attractions are ruined because of kids, teens and/or adults that need to learn manners.

AKK

More often then not, I don't blame the kids. (Kids, being those who are NOT teens) I blame the parents for either not correcting the kids or not teaching them the appropriate values.

Teens generally know better (well sort of) or at least they know what they are doing may be wrong, they just don't care.

Those adults... Well if they are at this point, I guess there is little help for them now.

I just try to do the right thing and hope that others will too. I hope karma has a role here as well. The best thing to do is just try and have a magical day as best you can given whatever situation you are in.

We rode the people mover years ago when they were renovating Space Mountain. The lights were on, and it was very interesting to see the tracks and how large the whole ride really is.
