My heart breaks for this poor child, and it would be best to not even say what I think of the mother, but I wouldn't be sad if she came down with a nasty stomach bug on her vacation

Thanks for the update. Would denitely not describe the mother as a caring person. Poor kid shipped overseas, sick and only 11 years old; and she's off on a vacation. Sheeze!

What kind of program is this that 11 year olds go overseas for a month? I can't even imagine sending my 11 that far away for that long.

As for foot and mouth disease, dd had it as a toddler and was miserable. She almost had to be hospitalized.

I know, I just sent my 10 year old DD to sleep away camp for the first time ever and its at least here in the same state. I can't imagine sending her over seas for a month without my DH or I going.

I feel sorry for this boy. Sounds like the mother is more interested in herself then the well being of her own son.
