For those with Alaska experience......I need help.

We did ziplining and dogsledding (on a dirt track) in Skagway. Loved it!!! Did a helicopter tour in Ketchikan and a whale watching tour in Juneau. It was just me and my 9 year old. Loved Alaska!! I booked all independently and we loved everything. Enjoy Vancouver also - great city.

Skagway I was thinking to rent a car and go off independently or do Chilkoot Tours.

We used Chilkoot Tours last August and thought they were great! We loved our tour guide, Mike. We did the Yukon Rail and bus with dogcart experience. They do offer other tours if you're not interested in that combo. For us it was the perfect combo--as a 1 way scenic train ride is enough 'train' for us; the multiple stops to get out and take pics was perfect--Mike was able to time our stops so that we weren't there when the big buses were there, same with timing it for when we arrived at the Carcross Trading Post, to avoid the big lunch rush. My kids wanted to see husky dogs--so this was a good way to do that without paying lots of $ JUST to see dogs. The dogcart ride was a lot of fun as well.

Who did you use for dogsledding? And who for ziplining? Did you feel you lost any of the experience not dogsledding on the snow?

Im not sure about how I feel about dog sledding that is why it may not be on my list. I saw pictures of them chained up, so not sure if I want to see that.

We booked directly with alaskaexcursion dot com. Since we did both, we got a $50 discount each. My daughter is a huge animal lover and the dogs were really well taken care of. They are VERY expensive so they don't want anything to happen to them. Her favorite part was playing with the puppies at the base camp. It was a lot less expensive than a snow dogsled and since we loved the ziplining, it worked for us.

My recomendations:

Vancouver tour with Victoria too. In Kethikkan, we did a train ride. In Juneau, dog sledding and a boat in Skagway
