2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

10K: (Ariel) mermaid sparkle skirt, black tank, mermaid sweaty band and dinglehopper bow

High-five fellow 10K Ariel Runner! :thumbsup2

Totally agree! Comfort (and as little chafing as possible) above all else!

Yessssssss! Body glide is your best friend. And abstaining from tutus. I made the mistake of wearing one once and my arms got all chafed up from rubbing against it :rotfl:

I'm not surprised to see a re-design. The trend with RunDisney lately seems to be that they're not waiting for anniversary years anymore. Star Wars Light Side got a re-design and it's only in its third year, and the Marathon Weekend medals are all completely different too. And the Disneyland Half weekend medals for 2017 will probably need to be changed, since 2016's had the famous duos theming. So I'm thinking this is becoming the norm.

Probably a good idea by them since registrations seems to be slowing down.

This is what I think. They're trying to get everything to sell out again like it used to.

Yes! I cannot deal with being uncomfortable when I'm running, and I'm easily annoyed by things hanging or rubbing.

I'm all about comfort. I like to run in running gear that is giving a theme/impression of being a costume. Sort of like Disney Bounding a runDisney event. :)

Agreed! I love seeing other people in costume, but it's not for me. I'm not good at making costumes, and I want to be comfortable! So I'll just stick to my running clothes. :)

Same here. I just get some kind of running clothes that are cute and brightly colored, and have something cute on the shirt. Then it's special, but it's comfy and I I can wear it again.

Yep! I put some effort in (for the first and only time) for Disneyland Half Weekend last year and didn't enjoy the crafting process or anything. In the end, I liked one of my outfits but not the other. Not worth it for me! :)

^Yes! I agree! I love seeing all of the pictures of people in tutus... but since it's my first half, I'm going to err on the side of being really comfortable, which means NO tutu.

I hope to get a princess minnie shirt made with my name on it :) I'll probably wear capris, but might toy with the idea of a running skirt (lululemon?) to be cooler. It's hard to imagine what the heat could be like in FL when the high here tmrw is 19F.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Plus at my age I'd look silly dressing as a princess. Now... dressing as the old hag from Snow White... :rotfl:

Does anyone know of any run clubs with bibs for the 5k? I saw the e-mail from Raw Threads today, but $125 seems a bit steep just to get access to a bib. I don't need a hotel room (yay for friends that live 10 minutes outside Disney!) otherwise I'd go with a travel agent.

I really love that Mrs. Potts 5k medal!

I just ordered some costume pieces. I also agree that comfort is the most important thing. I like to do Disney bounding type outfits. If I have something more elaborate planned I wear it for the 5K.

I'm a Raw Threads member but already used my two buddy passes for the 5k. Sorry :(

The $125 is a pretty good rate for the membership though. You'll get race registration access for a year and pay about the same as you would for Active but not have to worry about registering on the day the races go up. You also get $20 back in a GC to use on the site, plus a shirt! (And discounts on merch all year long!) We've decided to skip the panic of registering thru RunDisney and keep doing Raw Threads from now on. So worth it for us to wait for medal releases and register when we have the money saved.

Thanks for the details - I've considered joining the r/t team before but wasn't sure it was worth it. Do they offer the Disneyland Paris race, do you know?

Thanks for the info @courtneybeth! Do they usually have bibs available for a while even after registration?

I didn't know about the buddy passes. Any of you lovely people out there in disboards-land have an extra one?! pixiedust:

I'll probably have a Buddy Pass left ... I don't think Beth is going to run the 5K and she just needs the one bib. I'll nail her down on it tomorrow and then let you know. Cool?

Ok, I realize I am asking a biased group but.....
I'm really regretting not signing up for Princess this year. It used to be a girls weekend, then I got left out of the girls weekend. These girls are still going, but they signed up after telling me they weren't signing up because they couldn't afford it. I'll take the hint.
Do I go with my hubby instead? I was mostly fine with skipping this year because we are doing Light and Dark Side already. But then I saw the medals, and now I'm bummed all over again.

I'm sorry that happened to you! I would say if you really want to do it than don't hesitate to do it with your DH. I went with my DH last year and we had a great time.

He is my BFF. But the reality of him missing work 3 times in 4 months is UGH.
I wish I had more friends that enjoyed running and Disney! They all seem to be either/or.

That sucks. A similar thing happened to me last year. I signed up to go with a group of girls and then I ended up staying home to do the work of one of the girl's so she could go (long story).

I totally understand having regret - especially after seeing the medals (see my 5k comments above!). If you really want to go and you can swing it cost/time wise, I think you should. You'll have a great time with your husband - and you guys can do your own thing. I think most people would agree that traveling with a bunch of girls can sometimes be like herding cats. And this way you won't be thinking about how you got left out of girls' weekend. You'll be thinking about the awesome time you had at Princess weekend. princess:

Why not make it a solo trip?! That's how I travel for short trips and it's great! There's always people around to talk to.
