How long does Nexus approval take?

We applied for a Nexus card at the beginning of June and have not heard anything. The Nexus website states 4 to 6 weeks for processing. We mailed it in instead of online. They charged my credit card on June 23rd. Does anyone know if the process time starts from when they charge you or when they receive it? With Canada Post threatening to strike, I'm getting a little concerned.

So my boss has it and I asked her. She applied online and about 6 weeks later they contacted her to schedule her interview. After that it was about 4 weeks later all done. Everyone in your car if you cross by land needs to have it.

Thanks SaraMc. I guess when mailing in, it will take longer. We don't usually drive across the border since it's not close, just for flying.

I applied for NEXUS in 2015. I used the online system to apply. Timeline:

18 May apply and pay fee online
11 June receive conditional approval notification online
19 June interview at airport NEXUS enrollment center
19 June receive approval notification online

I received my physical card by the end of June.

The universe clearly aligned to get me an interview so quickly -- I am guessing someone had canceled as it was the only slot for a while.

Wow, that's super fast! When I tried to do it online for the five of us, it wasn't working properly. I wasn't going to chance it. Guess we will give it more time. I wish I could find out the wait times for the interview. I can't find anything about that. In Edmonton they only do interviews Mon - Fri as far as I know, not on Saturday. It might be difficult to get all five of us together on a weekday.:)

I had my conditional approval in a week (!), as did my baby daughter. My significant other waited 6 weeks for his conditional approval, and his application went in a few days before mine!

That is super fast!! You must of sent at just the right time. I wonder why some are processed so quickly and others take much longer??

When I went for my interview they were so so surprised it was that quick for us. I had hoped that we could all do our interview at once but alas we will have to go there again for DH.

We applied first thing in January and mailed ours in as the system was not recognizing our rural address online. I received a call a week after mailing for a small clarification on my information. The following week we received our letters to schedule the interview. I was able to get one in early February but DW could only get one in June. She brought her documents along for my interview "just in case." Once there I asked if she could have her interview and they were more than happy to interview both of us. It worked well with the Canadian officer interviewing one of us and the American officer interviewing the other and then vice versa. We had our cards by mid February. Ours came from Montana (we're in AB), so they must have more than one processing centre.

Not sure if things get processed differently, but just to give you some more information. I processed my Nexus renewal online at the end of May (credit card charge as well) and JUST received notification for renewal this past weekend - Aug 6. So I assume things might be quite backlogged.

I didn't think a renewal would take that long. Knowing this, I guess I shouldn't expect approval for about another month. I'm just worried that the approval letter will either get lost or held up in the mail. Thank you for sharing.

Thinking about it, this time of year is probably busier than January. I'm hoping we have the cards before our next trip in December. I am going to try to get all 5 of us in for one appointment. Hoping they take us! Thanks dis_guy!

I applied mid May (6 days before my spouse) and got my application at the end of June - total of 6 weeks. My spouse just got the application approved few days ago - 10 weeks.
When I called a couple weeks back they said there was a backlog in applications.

You'll definitely get your interview before December, it's just a matter of getting an appointment for everyone in your family on the same day.

My interview was at YEG on a Sunday morning, so they weren't very busy at all. Good luck and you're very welcome!

You had an appointment on the weekend? The website I found says Mon to Fri. It would be much easier for us if we could do a weekend interview.

I'm sure it depends on volume. I've read about people getting theirs quickly but ours took months. We applied early October 2013, got notified Dec 10 that we could book our interview, went online right away and the first interview (Pearson Airport) was March 31, 2014. We got our cards about 2 weeks later. We had hoped to get our cards in time for our trip to WDW in December 2013. We were there when we got the notification. If I'd known it would take that long we'd have started much earlier. It is worth the hassle however.

I submitted the application at the end of May and received approval about 1 week ago. Almost 10 weeks.

There are some locations that have both Saturday and Sunday appointments.

This is close to when I sent ours in (beginning of June). Good to know its about a 10 week wait.
Thank you.
