News Round Up 2016

IMHO the DreamWorks deal is a bad deal.
I saw someone last night post that they hope Comcast wouldn't ruin DreamWorks.
Fact of the matter is, DreamWorks already ruined DreamWorks.

There is not a lot of value there. Maybe the recent acquisitions that DW made, but that's about it.

I don't think it's a good acquisition either. Most of DreamWorks recent films have underperformed or flopped, and their future releases are not exactly promising either. DreamWorks made the big mistake of purchasing a whole bunch of cartoons from the 60's, 70's and 80's thinking that the newer generations would care about them. Peabody and Sherman proved they were a bit too optimistic about those acquisitions.

I think Comcast seeks to have more children properties and characters more than releasing films under the DreamWorks banner. They have another animation studio that just happens to be way more profitable at half the cost of production.

Disney Springs Wolfgang puck may be going away or changing as well as some other restuarants already at the springs due to all of the new restaurants coming.

Skipper Canteen is getting a new menu...

Jungle Book show at AK is temporary for summer. Rivers of light may not debut until fall and may be revised a bit... Zootopia was considered before jungle book but ultimately they felt jungle book fits better. This revised show of rivers of light will include jungle book even when the temporary show stops.

Star Wars fireworks show at DHS will have a lot of projections with much less actual fireworks.

New illuminations will include disney characters.

Disney overall are quite good at Acquisitions. They also got Marvel for $4 billion. Pixar cost a lot more at $7.4 billion which i think is quite high

Marvel wasnt much when Disney bought it, Disney turned into the monster that it is today
hopefully Comcast can do the same

Hey everyone I love the Dreamworks and Comcast discussion but could we take it to the thread regarding it? Thanks in advance!

What does this mean for Universal theme park? It means that Universal Creative has full and direct access to such films as Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon. No specific theme park has ever had exclusive rights to DreamWorks films, which is why there are several attractions at various theme parks based on DreamWorks films, including Europe, Dubai and of course, Orlando.

That isn't automatically the case. It's not uncommon in large companies for separate divisions to operate in competition which each other and to license to the highest bidder. On top of that there are existing licenses to consider. Though they're likely not as sweeping as the Marvel ones were.

Seems a little soon say it's "full and direct access" or to start talking exclusive rights.

But what about the 5th Marvel gate?

Stupid question, but is seems like these pin codes offers are the same as those offered to the general public. What's the point?
the general public codes will be limited in how many rooms at each resort for each day are available at that rate. This isn't (necessarily) the case with the pin. For example, my sister could not book POR with the awaken summer general public code for the dates that she wanted, but she was able to get the room tier and dates she wanted there with her pin code.

I got my last one via snail mail.

They must do both. Last year I got a pin code for fall dates via snail mail, and this year via email. The email was in a box labeled "A little extra pixie dust for you" as described by a PP. I didn't realize it was a legit pin code (vs an available to the public type offer code) until I clicked through the link and it required my last name, zip, etc to view the offer.

Unfortunately, we can't travel in the fall due to our business' workload. Boo!
