DISApalooza 2015 Official Information Thread

We just finalised dates for a trip to Orlando and realised we will be staying at UO for this, but it's already sold out! :(

Easy come easy go I guess!

Just realized that this is the same weekend time that we will be at Universal also. Had not planned a trip till last week and that was the only week I could get off work between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Maybe we can at least meet some of the members before we leave the park...

Is there any chance at all that any more tickets will become available? Perhaps some type of wait list or a last minute addition of extra tickets?

The event page says sorry no wait list.

Maybe there will be scalpers out front! :teeth:

I understand why the tickets are non-refundable, but I don't understand why they are non-transferable. Does Universal have to consult a government database to make sure no guest is on a terrorist watch list? :teeth:

My guess is they wanted to make it as easy as possible for them to handle tickets. And who can blame them? I'm sure organizing the event (not even considering ticket distribution) is quite the undertaking! Who knows, maybe they will ultimately utilize "hard tickets" that can be passed on to someone else. Only time will tell.

They do not actually provide a traditional ticket. What you get a is a credential, aka badge, with your name and your DisBoards name on it. I am sure that must figure into the non-tranferability for sure.

Makes sense. What stops someone from just giving their badge to someone else? Not that I plan on doing so, I wouldn't miss this for the world!

I hope so, I purchased a ticket for me and my friend, if he ends up not being able to get the time off, it would be a waste!

What is someone is not on the Disboards? Like my friend...

I was just coming to find out if they were transferable at all. I definitely understand why they aren't but I'm a bit disappointed. I'll just need to be on my game next time!

We're local but planning to spend the night at Universal since it will be late. Never having stayed there on property, we were doing our own research in advance before reaching out to Dreams to book. According to the website, the only hotel availability was at Cabana Bay - nothing at any of the other resorts. We called Universal to check, and apparently you can only book one of the other resorts if you book a minimum 3-night stay. Does that sound normal? I've never come across anything like that at Disney :confused3

I was told the same thing. But after the reviews that The DIS team did on Cabana Bay, I was happy to book that night there! I'm staying at French Quarter the rest of the week and then that one night at CB. Check out their reviews of it! :)

I am very happy to be staying at CB.... Now my problem is finding a WDW hotel to stay at the rest of the week that is comparable, and it appears WDW does not have anything comparable, sigh.... I had thought about just staying at CB for the week, and Uber over and back each day, lol

Comparable how...theme? Price?

I forget which one of the guys say it, it was either Craig or Justin, said that CB was like Pop, but cool.... or something like that. I have stayed at Pop, Music, POR, Contemporary...... WDW just does not have a resort that nicely themed at that price point, I mean, what is essentially a suite, for $195/night.... now bad! I just wish WDW would offer AP discount for theme park view rooms at the contemporary, I would be done already, lol

Ah gotcha...yeah a room that size at that price would be nice. I'm paying around that though per night for French Quarter....which I think is pretty good. Staying at Pop the night I arrive because it was so cheap that week. First time staying at both of those. I wish I had booked CB a few weeks before I did....the first time I checked out prices, it was $165 and then it went up. Oh well.

I was looking earlier and that week, Contemporary rooms are over $1,000 night. What the what?
