Marathon Weekend 2016

now im freaking out.....please please please don't let this mean that the actual 10k is sold out, I cant imagine THAT many people have the link but now I don't know what to think this is to be my wifes first 10k and I don't know how to handle it if we don't even get a chance to register please don't let my good nature have screwed me here
I'm freaking too. Supposed to register my hubby for the full and me for the 10k our first Disney races (my first 10k) I've been begging to drag him to Disney and he finally caved.

Well, I went ahead and registered my daughter for her first half marathon. I am pretty nervous, but we did get the confirmation emails and I was able to see her registration through the link above. I printed the receipt and the page with the confirmation information. Hopefully all will be okay.

That's why I'm thinking that somebody at Active opened the 10K (and Dopey and the Half) early to let friends, etc., register before open registration tomorrow.

They may have opened 20-30 something spots in each of the groups under the #names, knowing that when full registration opens tomorrow, they just have to take the # off and update the "quantity" available in those categories to align with what needs to be sold.

Again. Just my speculation from a standpoint of experience.

@Keels that's a really interesting theory. Makes me think someone is going to be in BIG trouble. I can't believe the form is still working.

Damn! They say my password is wrong!
But I just signed in at active.com with the same password! :faint::crazy2:

Is there a password field on the form itself? That was on the #dopey challenge form this morning. It disappeared later in the day and then people were able to register.

Nah. You're going to get money tonight or money tomorrow. It's all the same money.

Also, I can't imagine that Active.com has a really large staff. And, again ... if runDisney really cared about how this all went down - again, build your own site! It's not that hard. I basically just outlined the steps ... heck, I could run it for them. But, again, whatever. If enough people register tonight and get processed card emails ... it really takes a lot for a website/online organization to go through and reverse a card AFTER it's been processed (not just put on a hold).

There shouldn't be. I had a password field when I registered for the DLH - but I was given a password from the travel provider to use for registration.

It does seem ridiculous for them to use an outside vendor for race registration when they have their own systems for hotel and dining reservations and ticket sales.

RIGHT?

And then they still use another party for PoT and race prep/execution.

If they have a finely tuned system for FPs and ADRs based on time and date, it seems like they can just use the same database technology for this. So annoying.

I saw a password field this morning when I was checking out the link. At that time I couldn't get past the page where you enter address info, etc. It disappeared later and then I was able to get all the way to the payment page. I spent the next few hours debating between hitting submit or closing the form.

I was thinking about that, @Keels !
Probably someone opened before for travel providers and/or friends and family.
For the 10K they asked for a password...but not for the Half...and I got it! Yay!!
:cool1::cheer2::banana::woohoo:party:

I'm kind of freaking out. What happens if my race sells out tonight? I am so confused. It doesn't seem fair!

It's so odd ... but the 5K isn't open any longer without a password.

I just don't know what's happening.

I'm kind of glad because I'd be so upset if people were registering while I just sat here debating :(

I have a lot I could say right now, but rather than rehash what everyone else is saying, I'm just going to say this:
There is a possibility that this could be my last runDisney weekend for a while, just because of scheduling issues. At first I was pretty upset about that, but now ... I could really live without the sleepless nights and/or nightmares about registration. I'm not willing to blame runDisney or Active entirely, but I think this whole registration experience (including having to be on the second registration opens (or earlier) or you will get closed out, which has nothing to do with the website) is not easy for someone like me.
I don't know how well I'll sleep tonight, but at least I know that it'll be over tomorrow afternoon either way.

I have been sitting here debating for over an hour to sign up for the Dopey or should I wait until tomorrow

Honestly? I would do it now, and then check the registration validation page around 12 EST tomorrow. If you're still there - then you're good. If not? Use that same link and sign up again. That IS the backdoor link. It by-passes the queue from the runDisney page.

Maybe someone at active or Disney finally noticed what was happening.

Doubtful. Again - they're going to get their money. The "queue" just gives them an out.

But I do think there is a reason why Dopey, Goofy, Full, Half and 10K were available tonight - but not the 5 or kids races, unless you had a password.
