Table mates or no?

First cruise our family of 3 was alone (didn't request to be, just happened). Second cruise we were with a family of 5 and had a blast. The kids would go to the club and parents sat around and talked until they turned out the lights! Third cruise we were with a family of 3 from China. They spoke very little English but we were excited only to find out the mom was not aware she'd have able mates which made it very awkward. She did not speak the entire dinner. Thankfully, our server picked up on the situation and we spoke to head server and were moved the next day which made it better for everyone! We are planning fourth cruise in October and are going with friends so we will be dining together but I hope we have lots of other families around us. My DD is on,y child and loves having people her own age!
