I just stayed at the MGM Grand a couple of weeks ago. They recently renovated all the rooms, but honestly I liked them better before. I liked the older decor that paid homage to old movies. With the renovations, oddly, the rooms weren't any better to me. The bed was moderately comfortable, no iPhone dock, one phone (and it was next to the bed, non on the desk). The automatic window shades were great, and the bathroom was really nice. I guess I just expected more from a hotel that had spent so much money so recently on improvements.
Oh, and the buffet there was average at best. I didn't like it much overall, but there were a couple of standout items (mainly the desserts). It cost about $32 with tax, though, which seemed overpriced.
