Anyone else trying to do the whole support local and travel within Australia and finding that all the justifications I’ve been using for the cost of Disney been very true? All the times I think of how expensive Disney is and then justify it by thinking of how much is included are so true. While I’ve always known that travel within Australia is expensive, I haven’t done it extensively for quite a few years outside of the weekend here or there in the bigger cities. Trying to do all the serious touristy things anywhere is expensive. I’m thinking of a week in the Cairns or Port Douglas area over winter as I haven’t been there in over 10 years. Although there’s cheap flights at the moment, adding up a nicer hotel (wanting a resort relaxing feeling), hire car, snorkelling or other entertainment / sight seeing, etc. it’s all getting up there with Disney costs. I’m a pretty good bargain hunter when it comes to travel, I love finding a good deal but at the moment it’s a matter of finding something that’s open, not fully booked and has flexibility in case borders slam shut again is really hard. What is everyone else’s experience?
