If you're willing to go to the suburbs, the Morton Arboretum and Cantigny are nice.

I second this! My old office overlooked Morton Arboretum (beautiful view!) to the west and I could see the city skyline to the east from my 10th floor view, and I pass both parks now on my way into the office I use on Monday and Wednesdays. They are both about 40 minutes west of Chicago, MA is in Lisle off of I-88 and Cantigny is just another exit or two west in Wheaton.

Cantigny is AMAZING - we take every out of town guest when they visit. The grounds and mansion are so serene and pretty, and the tanks and museum will fascinate anyone even remotely interested in the military or US history. Even if you are not into either of those, the set up is really awe-inspiring. Everyone we have taken has wanted to go back. Admission is a donation of $5.00 per car. Beats ANYTHING you can do in Chicago by far.
