Lesson learned. Don't waste a year of your Disney planning waiting for ROL!

I just read a couple of articles stating that ROL is officially pushed off until 2017. I was hoping to see it next week. Actually, I was hoping to see it in May and canceled our trip and rescheduled for December when it would supposedly be a sure thing... Gah!:crazy: This really isn't a thread about ROL. It's a lesson in not getting your hopes set on anything Disney has in the works...Don't count on it unless it's already up and running!
 
don't give up all hope yet! This puppy could still launch in soft openings over the next couple of weeks
 
It was supposed to debut on Earth Day April 22 (2016), so maybe by then? It is just around the corner.

Not sure what the deal is with official opening/debut dates, but they sure do good on abrupt closing and refurbishment ones.

I just want to add that all the Previews ran with only entertainment CMs on the barges. Other entertainment roles were filled in with Operation CMs who won't be in the show when it does debut.

That means more training and more rehearsals before RoL can officially begin with soft openings.
 


I did not change any plans but we were disappointed to miss it in May and then again in October! Hopefully it will be open by next May when we go again.
 


Even with shows that are up and running you never know. We had FP for the temporary AK jungle book show this summer and it was cancelled due to rain so we missed that one. It was our last night.
 
I am probably a weirdo, but I hope ROL doesn't open before my trip in Jan/Feb, because I know it will turn AK into a madhouse!

(I'd rather enjoy it on a future trip when the newness and novelty wears off and it won't be so crazy.)
 
Well they've taken all the excitement away. We had hoped to see it during our May trip, but of course that didn't happen. Now I'm with Elle23 that I would rather not have to deal with it especially after hearing the discussions about the bottlenecks that will probably occur during pre-show and post show times.
 
We're going in December 2017, so *fingers crossed* LOL!

I was seriously not even considering AK for this "Christmastime" trip, but with ROL and possibly Pandora both up and running, I definitely want to check it out. Never been there at night, and I look forward to the new stuff. I love the whole spirit of AK anyway. Such a pretty park.
 
I realized that I planned our park days for May 2017 without even considering it (we limit the number of late nights to not totally exhaust the kids). After getting up early many days for weeks on end hoping to get a dining package for this past May, I'm really over it. If they have it we might consider skipping Wishes to see it but I am not going out of my way for it beyond that.

I do miss the ROL thread that was going at the time though. At least that part of the craziness was fun. :love:

I'm with you. We have our January trip coming up and I really wanted DS2 to see the Tree Awakening, the street parties and don't want to deal with the crowds if they decide to open.

AND if there is any chance they will finish this thing, bring back the lanterns, fix the holes that everyone is talking about ... I'd rather they do that first.

I said it before, I'll say it again, we missed it this past August, and I'm not holding my breath for this coming August!
