Hollywood Studios
Wednesday June 10, 6 pm-ish
It was drizzly when we arrived at Hollywood Studios.
Look, Ma, no hat!
With a group of boys and no Fast Passes, the smart move was to start at Star Tours. There was not much of a wait.
When we got to the place where we needed to say how many in our group (17) we were placed at the very last loading bay and eventually others were added to our line.
As we waited, I prepped our group about increasing our odds at being picked for “Rebel Spy”
The first tip- be part of a group- Check!
Next, when you sit down, look straight ahead. Do not put on your 3-D glasses right away.
We were seated in the theatre and there was some sort of issue with where one of our boys (the son of my friend L. ) was told to sit. I think he was near where the handicapped seating was, and he was asked to move to a seat at the back of the theatre, away from our group. He did so politely and without fuss.
I didn’t take notes during our time at HS, so I didn’t write down and I don’t remember what sequences we got during the show.
I also said that I wouldn’t show pictures of the kids from the trip, but here is my friend’s son, M. as Rebel Spy.
I think his anonymity is safe!
After Star Tours, we went to check on the wait time for Toy Story Mania. I can’t remember what it was, but it was more than an hour and the boys didn’t want to wait.
So we did this instead:
Which might seem like a strange thing for a group of teenaged boys, but I think half of the boys in our walking group are involved in theatre, both at school and/or in community theatre.
Action! Let’s roll!
Once again, since I was on the trip without my other half, I was able to take pictures without receiving the evil eye of scrutiny.
We are coming up to the mean streets of New York. Will we blow right through the set, head into the Wild West and get the Cowboy scene???
Nope!
I love the Indiana Jones scenes but my pictures are always blurry.
We were now entering familiar territory to me, Ben, my friend L. and her son. The Wizard of Oz was Ben’s first play (he and Nate were flying monkeys). My friend’s son was a munchkin.

Trivia Question: What is the first song in the Wizard of Oz after the movie goes from B&W to Color (answer at the end of this update)
It was raining when we got out of the Great Movie Ride. I had everyone stay under cover and I ran over to check the wait time on TSM again. It was still something like 70 minutes.
This is where I think I made a mistake. We should have waited in line for the ride. I knew we probably wouldn’t have another opportunity on the trip. We were coming back to HS the next afternoon, our last day, but we didn’t have a FP. Ben was still pretty upset that we waited over an hour the previous night for Soarin’. But the queue for TSM is so much better! Plus, it was out of the rain. And I have a feeling that the wait time was actually somewhat inflated.
But we decided not to do it.
At this point our group split up. Some were heading back to the resort and some wanted to go on Tower of Terror.
I opted to stay with the two guy chaperones. My friends L. and S. went back with the kids who didn’t want to stay. Ben was in the group who went back (and got stuck in the rain walking to and waiting for the buses). L’s son, who really had not been on many thrill rides, opted to stay with us. We didn’t know how he would do.
The ride was a lot of fun, and the wait was not very long, so we went again.
L’s son did fine and had a huge smile on his face in the pictures. I couldn’t wait to share the news with my friend about her son who was now getting his thrill-on. (Or was he?)
We exited, but not before saying goodbye to Bo.
It had stopped raining when we were getting to the bus stop.
When we arrived back at the resort, I made a pit stop at the food court and treated myself to this little beauty.
Got back to the room, chatted with L. for a bit, this is when we took the recreation “I can organize the trip in my sleep” photos and we got ready for the next morning.
It was our last day, and it was going to be an early one. In fact, I wanted to be at Animal Kingdom when it opened, but breakfast the next day would not be served early enough for us to make rope drop.
So I offered to buy our boys breakfast in the food court so that we could get out of there in time.
Answer to the trivia question: "Ding Dong, The Witch is Dead"
Next up: I paid for that food, I’m gonna take pictures!
