Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER RESORT Information & Questions

I know that this resort is typically excluded from general public room discounts and free dining, but I am struggling to find clear information on whether it is excluded from Annual Passholder discounts too. Can anyone direct me to a good resource on that? Thanks!
POFQ is rare for discounts. That being said, I have gotten discounts in the past. I am going next month with no discount for AP, but when I was there in August last year I was able to get an AP discount. It is my favorite place to stay.

We just got home yesterday- I was able to use an AP discount on our room. And we were pixie dusted with a garden room when we had booked standard. We LOVED this resort and are super sad we can't stay here again for awhile- as we have 3 children and they don't offer the 5-person rooms like Riverside. We'll be back- someday!

Hi there - I am just back from my vacation and wanted to share some thoughts.

The resort is beautiful! I am so glad that I stayed here. The grounds were lovely and I liked how small the resort was especially since I broke my toe the week before my trip! We had a 3rd floor room in bld 6 overlooking the courtyard where they play the movies. At first I thought it was going to be noisy but it really wasn't. The rooms are underwhelming. I have stayed in several of the resorts and I thought that POFQ was the least themed in their rooms. The room was dirty. It was dirty under the air conditioning unit, which i probably would not have looked under but something fell and I had to pick it up and it was nasty under there. It was dirty behind the tv, which again I would not have paid attention to but nail polish fell out of my bag and back there. Gross. They didn't clean next to the night stand either as someone's popcorn and candy wrappers were still there. The beds were comfy as were the pillows. It was pretty quiet on the 3rd floor which was nice.

Our magical express bypassed our resort and took us straight to PORS which I had to then ask for them to take us to the FQ. The bus driver seemed irritated by the airport personal that put us on his bus and didn't tell him to take us to the FQ. He was nice enough to turn around and take us back. Thank goodness since I again had that darn broken toe - otherwise I would have walked.

The food court. Ugh. I didn't like it at all. It is set up so weird and for the amount of people there were always lines to check out and it was unorganized to say the least. The garbage area was always a complete mess - like nasty messy. The floor by the garbages and the pop machines was always dirty with food and pop. The outside eating tables were never wiped off. My dd and I walked over to Riverside and their food court was nothing like the one at FQ. It was clean and organized.

The pool. Could never find 2 lounge chairs together for my daughter and I. Many were reserved in a rows and not used which is just rude. My dd and I walked over to Riverside and enjoyed their pool which was nicer and had many available seats. It also closed way too early.

Overall, I would return. The negatives even though they sound harsh wouldn't stop me from staying here. We had great bus service every time. It's quaint and I liked sitting outside in the evening enjoying the ambiance. We walked the trail to check out riverside and it was a nice walk. The resort is a great size with only 7 bldgs. It has everything you need. I liked it but you can tell that it just is not staffed well based on the cleanliness issues, in my opinion.

Did you complain to guest services? Wondering what I should do if this happens to me when I go there

Well... I know this may make me sound a bit high maintenance but...If I check in and feel like my room hasnt been well cleaned I wont hesitate to call mousekeeping and ask to have it redone. I dont mind waiting-there a dress shop in Disney spring that looks to be worth wasting some time in. I dont mean to be a diva but cleanliness is one of my biggies and we can expect at least that much from a Disney resort IMO. And I mean ANY Disney resort-even a value. Yep, I'll be branded that guest but I need to keep happy with my resort and feel like the horrible gobs of money I am spending are worth it.

It's likely that the person working my room might just be having an off day-I have them at work sometimes. you know that day when you dont feel good or are so tired that its a stretch to give 50% let alone 100%. So I would be understanding but I would still need my problem fixed.

I understand. I would definitely do the same. With how much is spent on resort, you really do deserve a clean room. Plus I'll have two kids under age five and I don't want them to accidentally touch and try to eat someone's trash off the floor!

There is absolutely nothing high maintenance or diva-ish in wanting a clean room. And no, you would not be branded as that guest either, not if your room was truly not cleaned properly.

If you ever have a need to contact Guest Services for comments, complaints, or compliments, this is the address I have used. I always have received a phone call from them within a day or so, and have always felt that my concerns or comments were listened to respectfully and addressed.

wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

They do want to hear what you have to say, whether good or bad. If you don't tell them, how can they know?

I just made a reservation for July and I'm so excited! I hope that we don't encounter any of the issues anyone else has recently. We have stayed at POR and CBR and I wanted to stay somewhere smaller this time. We are only staying 3 nights and no time in the parks but I am looking forward to the pool and boat ride to DS. :)

Thanks for this.

my grandson and I just returned from 8 nights at caribbean beach we wanted to try a new resort. we have stayed at ASMovies, French Quarter and Caribbean Beach...although it saved me almost 400 dollars by staying at CBR I will be returning to POFQ next year when we go back to Disney....we actually took uber to FQ because we wanted beignets and we both loved the new/brighter food court. Now we are counting down the days (547) until returning to POFQ . We loved the size, the pool and the bus stop....this will be our only disney resort as long as we can afford to stay here.....

Apologies if this has been asked recently...what are the odds that POFQ will undergo soft refurb in the next six months? It's been a while, from what I've been able to learn. Doesn't WDW do a refurbishment every four to five years at its resorts?

Thanks Andre! I had been seeing all the construction notices about the other resorts, and with the updated food court and pool I wondered if it was the start of something new for POFQ.

As much as I'd love to be there after the referb, I hope they're not working on it while we are there in November! o_O

We were there the last time ( when they were redoing the beds sink etc.) and it had no effect on our trip. They had a good portion if not all of building 7 blocked off. We were in another building (5 or 6) & other than workers around we didn't notice anything.
