Eaten at both and love both! Boma offers unique dishes you don't see anywhere else. Their desserts are really great too. Definitely more upscale than tusker. We love love love tusker house for breakfast! It is a must do for us each time we go.

Thanks for the tips!!! That is a good idea to do Boma for dinner and Tuskar for breakfast. Then we'd get the best of both worlds.

What makes tusker house breakfast so good? I've only done one breakfast buffet at Dinsey but just assumed they were all similar based on the food offerings.

I'm sticking with the QSDP if it's offered during my trip. My niece will be considered an adult and with the two of us going for 10 nights I will just pay out of pocket for a TS meal or two if we feel we need it. I took her when she was little 4 & 5 and we did all the character meals and TS meals on those previous trips that were 14 nights each.

$40 per night X 10 = $400 it would cost more than that to upgrade to the DDP and we would have to pay even more in tips. So with the two of us even 2 TS meals would be way less and we would have extra CS credits (maybe a hot breakfast).

Went back and checked and there was NO august in that rumor. I lose any thread cred I had. Hehe. :rotfl2:
You still have tread cred! It takes a lot more than that to lose us. We are hoping for the same Nov dates at music! I'm just ready for the dates to drop.

I did this in 2013. was on my computer every day at 6AM Eastern. Got every single ADR I wanted at perfect times: CRT, CM, CP, 1900 Park Fare, Akerhaus. Only one I could not get was BOG dinner and I think that had a lot to do with MNSSHP. We actually prefer lunch at BOG anyway.
I'll be booking my ADRs (hopefully) next week at 6am everyday. :surfweb:

I think your friend needs a new TA. The FD announcement (if there is one) will come before summer.

There will be confirmation here on this thread when they know something. I wouldn't fret over being out of the country if it does come on 4/17. There should still be some options a few weeks after that (not too many, but two or three at least).

Unfortunately I'm already booked at PO Riverside 9/16-9/24. Not flexible with dates but would be perfectly fine switching hotels :)

One more post for now

After reading through the last 10 pages (been away all day), I think this might be helpful:

Upgrade cost from/to

QSDP/DDP $21.16A $4.07C
QSDP/DxDDP $58.49A $17.87C
DDP/DxDDP $37.33A $13.80C
I'm not well versed in doing these forums/threads, but if someone knows how - I think it would be a good idea to "hard code" a post at the beginning of this thread that includes the key items people keep asking about; i.e. upgrade cost, what is FD, what is normally required to get it. Historical dates.....etc.

Anyone willing and know how?

You're not losing your mind....the August idea came from seeing DVisa card holders discuss having that option in AUG.

I've been trying to think of an example of a quick TS. I can't really think of one. The problem is we always seem to wait 15-20 minutes past our ADR before being called in, so that can be a real time sucker.

I would think any "plain" restaurants would be quicker in terms of time you spend from sit down. e.g. Via Napoli is an Italian TS but it doesn't have a show you have to watch (Hoop Dee Doo) or characters you're waiting to catch (Akershus).

Not that I've tried any of them yet! But I feel like a theoretical expert on it all having lived vicariously through DISBOARDS for the past month!!

:woohoo:Finally caught up! So exciting to read everyone's plans and strategies here. We are currently booked at CBR for 12/12-26. I was able to find a Standard room right before the GC compensation ended based on information from Tom at Disney Tourist Blog (who we briefly met at MK last September :cool1:). I booked without telling DH. :tiptoe: Of course he knows now and ocassionally asks me if FD has dropped. I also booked for the same dates at CSR, which is where I originally wanted to stay before I heard about the GC at CBR. My DD and I wanted to stay at POR again (we really loved the create your own pasta at the FC :D), but my DH and DS thought is was too swampy (we had to stay at Alligator Bayou because we had 5) and not Disney enough. If POR would be included in the FD for our dates (I doubt it though) and would be pretty comparable in $$, I think I'd switch. We'll see. We had FD at POR last year, and we really, really liked it. If we are not able to get it this year, we might decide to stay off site, but I was telling DH I feel a lot less guilty for splurging on food using the DDP. He said if we stay off site, he'd still take us everywhere we want to eat and pay OOP. He's a keeper!!:love:Last year was also our first time using Disney Buses, and I loved that DH got to relax after a long day at the parks (we had to stand on some nights-we really didn't mind; other nights we had our own bus and we felt like rock stars :rockband:), so here's to hoping we all get our wishes granted pixiedust:when FD finally does get released. I just want to have my trip all set and I want to know the park hours and I want to make my ADRs and...:rotfl:I'm on here for the long haul.:hourglass

Well I have just come across this in my Twitter feed.

So they will be offering Free-Dining to UK Travelers

So that means firstly they are still doing it, and I'm sure (just me, in my complete knowing nothing way, as what I know about the travel industry is not a lot) it will probably happen in the US and other areas as well

Also can you all guess what I'll be doing on April 6th lol :ssst:

We actually find the character dining buffets quicker then a sit down restaurant where you order off the menu, especially when you are on the dining plan because you are waiting for your server, ordering drinks, drinks come, order dinner, wait, get the dessert menu, wait for your server, wait for dessert.....

Usually the characters at a buffet come fast and furious. The server takes your drink order right away and then you eat. You can ask for the bill when you sit down as well if you're in a hurry. Even places like Hoop de Doo and Spirit of Aloha are pretty quick once you are seated.

Yes i think i will book the free dining at Disney.uk..In 2016 i stayed 3 weeks in CBR due to that promotion:yay:
But the FD could be better in the US ..
For the FD you have to book in 2017 for 2018..last years we got QS at moderate, you have to buy the ultimate ticket for the length of stay..if you decide shortly after the promotion goes on air..you also got a 200dollar giftcard or a breakfast at value resorts..both are limited time only
Would you book a moderate hotel for FD QS?

This year i booked late and now i have a little bit hope, very little that that my dates are good for USA FD

That will be for 2018 in the U.K. last year U.K. 2017 free dining dropped on the April 21 and ours came out April 24.
And in further research it came out April 23 and ours came out April 27 in 2015. Could that mean our will drop April 10??

I stand corrected! Makes sense. Will keep that in mind. Our travel partner family is arriving a few days before us and their ADR opened up a few hours ago, so they're in the process of booking dining for us all. I'll still have some to book for just my family on Sunday when our ADR opens, but I'm so NERVOUS waiting to hear how they went! Not nervous in a terrible way, but a barely-contained-excitement nervous!:bored:

ADR - Our friends just locked 7 of us in for BOG and Akershus for lunch and Chef Mickey for brekkie in Sept!!!!!! Got the times and days we wanted for everything except BOG (wanted 8am brekkie) but got our 2nd time preference (lunch) which is still brill!!
So, so happy and excited.

:banana::cheer2::woohoo:
