DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

'Morning all...
Hope y'all are well and thriving.
SSDD down this way. Mostly just trying to stay positive.
(which can be a mite difficult at times)

Yeah, don't blame him. I wouldn't want to go back for that either, especially after mom and dad fed him well and went to movies. Did you do his laundry too? :lmao:
You'd think, wouldn't ya'?
Usually he leaves early to get back up there and be with his friends and immersed in the programs.
He sees more films at school than when he's at home and we're paying for the food regardless of location.
Now he did get a about half a load of laundry done, but that little bit was all he even brought with him.

So we have received our first snowfall warning of the year for tonight, warning says 20 Cm overnight or about 8 inches for you metrically challenged folks. Hope there wrong, my pick in a local contest was December 14th.
I take it this would be a bit earlier in the season than normal.

We likely won't see any this year. Actually we finally got our first rainfall in three months.
Yesterday we were around 20cm below normal, but now it's at a more reasonable 19.5cm deficit...
Yeah?

Morning all. November is almost over, but I'm ready to fast forward to March and get winter over.
I'd just like for the holidays to be over...
I don't do well this time of year.

If we get an inch of snow on the ground, it causes school closures along with mass hysteria.
Yep... that's our way
Now if it snowed more regularly, we'd lean to deal with it as well as those to the north.
Just nowhere near enough incentive to fight it when normally a couple hour siesta is all it takes to wait it out.

Not much of significance around here other than FIL is still not right. DW is working with MIL to follow up with doc this morning - enough already get to figuring out what this is.
May they figure out what's going on, and may they do so quickly.

Though we miss the snow during the holidays, I do not miss shoveling, snow blowing and driving in it from our years of growing up and living in Chicago area.

Yup. I have a sneaking suspicion that it won't be too many more years before I have to hire a crew to do my shoveling for me. Right now I look at it as a free gym membership.
I have to. It keeps me from crying.

Yeah?

Early December storms are not uncommon but the snow usually doesn't last this early. In fact, it is suppose to rain on Thursday.

That system is due to hit St. John's Thursday night, but temps will be right around freezing mark so not sure if it will be snow or rain. Probably just a big mess either way. I expect if we do get any amount of snow, it will melt away over the next few days.

Thanks for the metric translation. That is a lot of snow at one time. If we get an inch of snow on the ground, it causes school closures along with mass hysteria.
I can understand how a place that is not used to it can get shut down by an inch of snow. We've got pretty used to it up north. 20cm or 8 inches is not that big a deal (that's what she said!) and doesn't always close schools, depending on when it fell. If stopped before dawn and not blowing around much, the roads are usually cleared and things get on fairly normally. When we get over 30cm/12 inches in one dump it becomes more of a problem and schools likely close, especially if winds are high and its blowing around.

Settling in tonight to watch the Blackhawks and channel surf some of the other NHL games tonight. Enjoying an egg nog, with bourbon of course, waiting for what's supposed to be some severe weather tonight. Have a good evening gents.

I guess figuring it all out is just as important as everything else. For example, my oldest dd told me today she doesn't use her locker at school, because the locker is on the 2nd floor and her classes are on the 1st. I asked, so she said she uses a friend's locker. I asked what if her friend was sick, and she said she knows the combination. Education pays.

I still enjoy clearing mine, but I don't get that much snow.

Sadly, we still have some gravel roads here.

I like eggnog, but not as much as bourbon neat.

Hi guys!

Since I last checked in, we went to Hilton Head for a few days (had a great time), stuffed our faces with turkey, fell asleep watching football, and then I went back to work and started digging through the pile of e-mails. Just coming up for air now. Hope everyone had a great week!

Happy Wednesday. Played tennis this AM, out to Chinese buffet for work lunch, and now heading home. I hope I can recover from how full I am right now to play tennis again tonight.

It was our annual Christmas lunch and dirty Santa game (gift limit $10). I bought 10 one shot liquor bottles as my gift, stole it back, and then let everyone choose a bottle to keep for themselves. That should keep me in good enough graces to disappear the rest of the year.

And ate a package of Peanut Butter cookies or something like that on FB. How's work there, big boss man?

So today was a messy day. Looked like this:

Got to the office and we had no power. Luckily my office has huge windows so I was able to clean up a bit, change a meeting to a local coffee shop and head home around 1 pm. DS had cleaned the driveway so I did some of the outside Christmas decorations.

Hope you all had a good day.

I have to confess I've never tried eggnog, with our without bourbon. I'm not sure why I never tried it. My parents didn't bother with it when I was growing up, I guess that's why.

Oh, so a pretty quiet time for you then. o_O
Looks like a good trip to Hilton Head, based on your FB pics.

Good that DS had some work done when you got home. It looks like the forecast has changed for St. John's tomorrow night and it should all be rain.

Was suppose to rain here but it's been changed to another snowfall warning, another 15 to 20 cm.

Second snow day in a row for DS and DW; me I head to the office and we do have power today but the driving was terrible.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Here's a bit of a throwback Thursday, remember these guys? It's the small touches like these guys that I miss at the parks today. Have a good one gents!

With it being Christmas time i like to enjoy some egg nog. It is filling so if I am going to have a few drinks I switch back to bourbon only.

Gorgeaous
Not so gorgeous, be safe

As we are under our 4 week mark for Christmas at DaWorld, counting down the days already, double checked park hours this morning as they are changing weekly, thought I would share some of our plans:

Staying at AKL, home resort, and wait-listed for BWV and Beach Club (location, location, location)
  • Tues 12/27 - Disney Springs - D-luxe Burgers, Daily Poutine and wherever else the family wants to grab something while we take in the new decorations and the night time drone Christmas show.
  • Wed 12/28 MK - Crystal Palace for BKFST & Wishes Desert Party
  • Thur 12/29 HS - Hollywood & Vine early diner & Jingle Bell jingle Bam Desert Party
  • Fri 12/30 - Sleep in day, O'hana late BKFST at Polly, check out MK resort decorations, hit MK for couple of hours with FP+ and then maybe back to Disney Springs / to bed early for NYE day
  • Sat 12/31 EPCOT - Via Napoli for early dinner. Plan is to munch our way through World Showcase through the evening while enjoying some beverages and the atmosphere of NYE which is supposed to be awesome despite the crowd. We have done Studios on NYE twice before so this will be new for us.
  • Sun 01/01 AK - have this open with only FP+ schedule in the afternoon as sleeping in. Waiting to see if Rivers of Light opens for a potential dining package
  • Mon 01/02 Boma for BKFST and then head to airport

This ought to stop the "Life of Darcy" posts for a little while. Everybody back to the trailer in CJ's yard!

Took the kid to the doctor. One collapsed vein and a sobbing kid later we're sent to the ER. Waiting there now.

Morning all. It's a nice slow day here with some grocery shopping and laundry.

Hey, that was my lunch. Don't knock it.

Work is good. Enjoying it, staying busy, have a good group to work with. Life is good!

Glad to hear it.

That looks bad. Way to rough it at the coffee shop. :lmao:

That doesn't sound good. Prayers for her.
