White tents/cabanas at Magic Kingdom?

Seems like that would be enough space to build another hotel.

Capsule and Pod hotels are cropping up at airports and Times Square etc. One with Disney flair inside theme parks isn't much of a stretch IMO.

Threads have made on where to rest or break at the parks. Some because of families with little ones, crabby dad's that hate crowds and some touring with elderly relatives.

I'm not talking sprawling Disney resort, but most roadside hotels are built on less space.
It would have to be a fairly small hotel. I can't imagine Disney building a hotel on 1.5 acres. Disney doesn't do roadside hotels.

I'm not saying they wouldn't be useful or used. In fact, I've said that I would be one to shell out the cash for one of these. Just in my mind, 1.5 acres seems like A LOT of land for this purpose.

Currently no AC and Fans, and it's November. Could be "tiny houses", illustrating hi-efficiency building of the future etc. They could easily be made to be portable. Anybody that's been in the park when it's ultra mega busy, might just be willing to shell out $650 to not have to rub elbow to elbow like you are in some college bar....a grumpy dad for instance.
It's a very small thing, that doesn't need to be a huge investment in funds, nor design time.
You put them in the nooks and crannies of the parks...then you sell them as DVC units, or dvc add on's. It really does have a lot of potential.

When they're using space, like the alleged 1.5 acres they're saving at Disneyland, to install these rather than much-needed attractions, I care very much. Indirect effects are just as valid of criticism as direct ones.
Considering DL has like 4 dark rides between the castle and the carousel, and managed to squeeze in a great Indy ride between (a better) Pirates and Jungle Cruise.. (among other examples) I'll cut DL some slack when it comes to their amazing space utilization.

Agreed at least DL, but not WDW.

Just wait for your Star Wars band/puck to open your personal sound proof detention center room in Star Wars Land complete with 1/2 bath, AC, mini fridge and couch/bed/crib For Daily breaks.

It wouldn't suit my particular needs in MK, but if I were traveling with a family reunion (a market Disney has been stressing more and more) and had elderly/mobility-challenged parents or grandparents or a new baby in the group, I'd see the benefit in having everyone chip in for a cabana. For folks who can't be out in the FL heat all day but DO want to experience Disney, fireworks, parades, etc. at their own pace, this could be a game-changer.

My husband and I are "mobility challenged" and seniors. We would never, ever participate in this money grab. When we get tired, we sit down and rest and take in the sites. We go slow. We go back to the room post noon and rest for a while. Then we set out for another park. What I'm trying to say is that if you need to rest you can do it while in the park, without paying more than you already have on admission! When we go to a park, we want to experience the park, not go to a tent to rest, even if you get "goodies" for "free". No way. Shame on your Disney!

The concept that Disney is 'money grabbing' is kind of funny to me. Isn't the whole place a money grab?
Heck, at least with Vegas, you have chance to get some of your money back.
This isn't a required fee.

I think it has more to do with Disney going after the elite and not doing things for everyone. Its all about extra expense add ons now rather than things everyone can enjoy for that price of admission.

Agreed, put up 20,000 cabanas, problem solved.

The cabana themselves isn't the problem it's the pricing.

Actually that's probably what they are trying to determine, it can't be too cheap or its right back to 60 day reservations etc.

But if you want one included with admission, they will need about 20,000.

But agree cabanas are not the problem.

I disagree. The cabanas are the problem. Seeing one of these things definitely takes away from the show. The idea of these chintzy things around the park makes me think of a flea market setting. I think it's an awful idea from beginning to end. If they truly want to give people the option to book a private space for whatever reason, do it inside a building with air conditioning and a window overlooking the park. I have no personal knowledge of behind the scenes spaces but converting one of those with several smaller rooms with these perks would be a better idea in my opinion.
