Pound Panic

Okay now a Flash Crash

So my hopes of a pound bounce back before my trip in November are dying fast.

I do have some dollars but will need some more so it starting to look like an extra expensive trip

Unless you are talking thousands and thousands of dollars, a few cents really doesn't make much of a difference. I am looking at paying off my cruise and the difference between paying it off now at $1.25 to the £ and waiting for it to maybe recover to $1.3 is only about £60 on $2000. The £ is likely to be pretty unstable for at least the rest of the year.

Yeah it's gonna be an expensive one for us if we wanna buy alot of stuff. Luckily we are on the DxDDP this time, so food won't be an issue!

I'm staying at the Dolphin which mean't I couldn't get the Dining plan so really going to have to think about that as an expense.

Have a combination of Off sites, QS and par down and just stick to a few select Disney Table service meals.

I've also told the family I will only be buying gifts for the kids.

Oh and I wasn't going to bother but now going make sure I stop at walmart to get some bottled water, as now with the exchange rate, in Disney I'd pay more for a bottle of water than I do in London.

I know in the grand scheme of things it doesn't work out to be a great loss when buying currency but it's the thought of it. When you've been watching it drop and drop its so annoying.

I'm the same as you, I changed some a while ago and got $1.30 but we still need more. Me and hubby had a bet on who would get the ' better deal ' He still hasn't done his (although it is ours) lol. I think I might win .

Really didn't see it being as bad as it is now

My wife's friend is going just before us, and she's been complaining about the rate crash. Wife had to bite her tongue to not mention to her friend about her (the friend) voting habits!

It's added quite a bit to our Boardwalk and Contemporary bill for Christmas as we use an American TA to get the bounceback discount and pay in dollars.

So much this! I spent 10 days in France over the summer with work, and it was painful on the pocket then... was home a week before our WDW trip. Definitely felt the impact on my purse when it contained both Euros and Dollars.

It's getting worse

I don't think anything (not mentioning anything news worthy in the UK or USA) apart from me finding the biggest Oil reserve in the UK in my tiny back garden (yes just like the Clampets (showing my age lol)) will change the countries fortunes in the next few weeks.

Just glad I got my MVMCP ticket when they first came out and the £ was okay.

I'm torn, I really don't know what to do. Ive got just over 4 weeks left now.......do I risk it and leave it a bit longer? Aaaagghhhhh

@Tash87 I think at this point in time it really doesn't matter whether you buy now or leave it another 4 weeks. It might recover slightly but not significantly enough to make any real difference. Could it fall further? Quite possibly - again, not enough to make a significant difference.

I'd normally say leave it, but I hung on until the last minute to get my Euros last week and it dropped again! I got 520EUR for £467 last week - it's absolutely painful.

Keep an eye on the rate on XE.com and if it starts to shuffle up then jump in.
