DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Happy Monday. I see it's another chatty day with the old folks returning for 2:00 PM dinner. Driving to campus this week means another daily 150 mile a day commute. There are some great views on campus with the weather warming back up..

Safe travels.

Probably a good thing I work where I do or I could be easily distracted.

Let it grow!!! Heck if I could grow hair on my head I would let it grow till I tripped over it. Lol

I've threatened to grow my beard to my waist.

Does Randall often spend his time walking around the World looking for short blond girls? ;)

Who doesn't?

I wouldn't limit myself to short, blond girls.

I'm missing lunch for a conference call, which saved me 5 hours on the road, but it is like using a tin can and a string. I'm tempted to just hand the cell phone to my son and let him mumble something occasionally while I get lunch.

From a few years ago.... Homeowner wanted to know if he could still use the chimney. Notice the patio under the chimney. Cookout anyone? Lol

The thing that strikes me about this is that the siding goes behind the chimney. That means that it's been like that for quite some time.

That seems to be the way everywhere. Our gas prices have dropped but not to the level they were are years ago given the price of oil. Now we are told it is because the value of the $ but the value is abut the same level as it was then and gas is still 30 to 40 cents per liter higher.

Gas prices have dropped dramatically but I remember that the grocery companies raised their prices when the gas prices increased due to additional cost of transportation. Haven't seen that reverse yet...

and a very merry un-birthday to everyone!
Question: I'm headed to WDW in April, and I have a Saturday & Sunday. Sunday is park day, Saturday is Non-park.

What would you all think about using Saturday to do a DVC tour. At the moment, I'm not in a position to buy DVC, and won't be for 5-7 years. And even then it's iffy.

It would be a waste of the salesperson's time, but, I want to see if the in-room amenities are worth-while for how we use our room on vacation.

Should I take a tour, or use that time visiting Disney Spring?

Yes sir, a local contractor put new siding on and saved money on inside corner Chanel. Lol

That's what I said in 1999, " I'm not buying anything" 400 points later. Lol
I never seen a sign saying " serious buyers only." Just tell them you would like to check it out. When I bought, there was no pressure, infact they didn't want an answer. They gave me the info and told me to go home and think about it. Our problem was we fell in love with it. In 1999 there was nothing like it. The rooms are hard to beat.
We went over to the springs back in September and to us, it reminds me of our local upscale mall.
A lot of people will rent points and stay at a resort or two just to check it out.
You stay in a one bedroom and it is hard going back. Lol
I don't know your finances but for us, we couldn't afford not to buy it or stop going so many times. Trust me, we are not rich but we figured if times got bad, we always had a resort to go too. We could always go grocery shopping and eat our meals in the room.
Take the tour, have fun..

That looks like a strong wind could knock that chimney down?

Or a strong fart.

Let the fart jokes commence.

I've threatened to grow my beard to my waist.

Do it.

Noticed that too. Ticks me off.

It was an honor and a privilege to meet Mr. Stopher!!!! Not only more trips than I, also was a cast member in Disneyland and now a travel agent. Over the last 5 decades I have done a lot of reading on Walt, his visions and dreams. I've spent five decades in his Florida dream, taking tours, over and over lol and I always admired Stopher, not only studied the man and the places but also lived it his entire life. He knows Disney history through a lot of experience, not Google. Congrats on your successful venture and miss the old days talking to Stopher on these boards.

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

You'd probably get just as much out of the call. Meetings: because none of us is as unproductive as all of us.

Funny how that works.:sad2:

Ditto. We are about the same, met with a DVC rep while down there and first time DW talked me out of it (mistake). We then joined a few years later are like Zerf with 420 points at AKL. Good luck and definitely go get information even if you aren't gonna buy for a few years it will help you run numbers.

My TBT from 2011 - I could go for a Turkey Leg

After working pretty much all of January, it's my day off!
So anyway, I've been at work since 6:30am for a 16 hour double shift. A quick trip home for a brief nap then back at work for 6:30am tomorrow for my second day off.

The money's good, though.

One perk about being on campus is having a fresh urinal multiple times a day to pee.

Ahh yes, phone meetings. Mute the call and work on something else.

They are non-pressure sales, so yes, take a tour. They will give you free lemonade and cookies, and maybe some FP for the tour.

Oh yeah... That's good for at least another few years! lol. Is that a cable attached to the middle that is pulling it away?

Stopher! Boy was he a chatty one! :lmao: But seriously... yes, miss him around these parts, too. Rented pointed from him one year to stay at BWV. Could have charged more than he did, but gave a fellow Dis Dad a break. Wonder how the business is going?

Wait... day off = working since 6:30? I'm confused. :faint:

We never have time for the tour but I say take it. Disney Springs only keeps us occupied for a couple of hours at best.

Money, a necessary evil. I would take less of it for less stress and responsibilities.
