Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE RESORT Information & Questions

Could anyone confirm that has been to POR recently confirm that cases of water are available in the gift shop? If they are, what is the current price? Thank you!

I'm end of next week and it's tough to stay focus at work. LoL

I'll be sending my fax in early next week for my request(s).

Doing my planning for my September trip (only 64 more days)!

Is it easier to take the boat to DTD to transfer to hotels (animal kingdom) for dinner or a bus to Epcot.

I plan to take a taxi back but was trying to figure out how to get there

That is the only think I dislike about Disney transportation. No easy way to get to resorts without stopping at a theme park.

DH and I took the boat to DTD in June, I will never second guess Disney's recommendation to take at least an hour and a half when using their transportation. We left our room an hour before our ADR at Raglan Road, and was late, but luckily they were nice enough to take us. Reason for my story, I would recommend going to DTD, but definitely allow yourself a good 2 to 2 1/2 hours to do that. Between when the boat arrives, walking to the DTD bus depot, and then waiting for an AKL bus to come, you could easily spend 2 hours. I'd rather be early, as there is a lot to explore in that resort before your ADR.

First family trip in October staying at POR and so excited!!! I've planned to death ADR and all. My plane is scheduled to come in at 3:30 and I'm assuming we should be to POR by 4 or 4:30. We have a 6:15 ADR at hoop dee doo review. My question I guess is what is the best way to get there on time we have to also pick up tickets when we get to pioneer hall

I would plan much more time to get to POR from landing at the airport. It can take a couple of hours. Are you renting a car or using Magical Express? Of the many times I've stayed at POR, magical express shared with Old Key West, Saratoga Springs, POFQ and POR- with Riverside being the 4th drop off. If you are renting a car, then you have to leave time to get your bags from baggage claim and the ride to WDW from MCO is about 40 minutes. You will have to check-in and go right to MK if you are taking the boat over to Fort Wilderness. We always do the 6:15pm show, and we leave the resort by 4:30-5pm the latest to get there. You just never know how long it will take for a bus and the boats. I really hope you arrive at POR early enough. You might want to take a cab to skip the boat and all of that. Also when you arrive to POR, you can go to the Concierge desk and they will print your ticket for HDDR so you won't have to when you get to Pioneer Hall.

The best way is to take a taxi. Otherwise, take the first park bus that comes by and then switch to the AKL bus at the park bus depot.

I'd agree with that, and add that I'd avoid changing at Downtown Disney if possible, too much traffic congestion. Also remember that although the Animal Kingdom bus might seem a good idea, it will most likely stop off at Blizzard Beach on the way. The best buses to catch would be Epcot or Studios if you get the chance.

At this time I would not use DTD as a transfer point to any location due to construction and traffic. Plus you would be back tracking to go anywhere else on property. Go literally to any other theme park and then get on the bus to where you want to go.

We are booked for a pool view room at POR Dec. 12-19. Does the resort play music in the pool area? We enjoyed the music at our pool view room at POP. Thanks in advance!

Nope. May be too close to the rooms. We stay pool view too and don't recall any music being played.

I would take the bus to MK which is the closest resort & then hop on the AKL bus.

MK isn't really the ideal park for either POR or AKL. It is the furthest north of all the parks in fact. If we discount Animal Kingdom itself (due to the extra Blizzard Beach drop-off) then Studios would be the most central to the route, followed by Epcot, with MK by far the furthest away from either resort.

Yes, there is pool area music, but only at the main feature pool. During the afternoon there are the pool parties of course, which can get a bit loud, but the rest of the time Port Orleans plays laid-back New Orleans jazz music. However you won't hear it much from guest rooms.

You may be cutting it close for this reservation. It could take up to 2 hours to get from the airport to POR. If your flight is delayed, you may not make it over to Fort Wilderness by the time the show starts. The airport transportation usually makes several stops at different Disney resorts and POR may not be the first stop. I don't think I'd plan Hoop De Do on an arrival day due to the possibility of missing the show and losing money spent on tickets.

If you have a pool view RR you'll be in either side of the pool between Oak Manor & Parterre Pl. there is a foot bridge between the 2 as well. I personally prefer Oak Manor. I'd request a location close to foot bridge & river path. Prob the same idea as dansdad just different wording. We had a GV room in Oak Manor in January. Had a room in river side of building, great location. The pool view rooms were right behind us.

I don't drive in WDW so have no comparison but it's true about driving to MK. Bus is way better, it lets you off in front of park. If you drive you have to park at the TTC, take parking lot tram, then transfer to boat or monorail to MK

We only drive when we have ADR's at other resorts. Otherwise for the parks we take the buses.

Thanks for your feedback!

I'm sure this has been covered before, but are mosquitoes bad at POR? We will be there in late September. I was at AoA last September and do not recall any issues with bugs whatsoever, but with all the water at POR, I can't see how they wouldn't be an issue? Any insight?

We've stayed late August and didn't have a problem.

the only time i have noticed any was during the movie and then it wasn't bad but I did get a bite or 2.

Does anyone know if there are showers in the restroom by the main pool? I'm just wondering if we could swim on our last day after we checkout. That might just be a pain. Our flight is at 4:20. Maybe we should go to a park 9-12.
