I am so sorry, I don't know where my mind was. Please indulge me as I backtrack to the Grand Canyon.
Day 3 - What a view!
Monday, May 30, 2011
It was my intention to get up and catch sunrise over the canyon, however, I didnt sleep well and just couldnt get myself out of bed. However, DH is an early riser and went out for walk. The rest of us got up at a regular time and headed to the Lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, I went to the back of the Lodge to get some pictures. It didnt snow enough for any accumulation, but there were signs that it had snowed. There was also more snow on the San Francisco Peaks, Mt. Humphreys.
The wind had also died down this morning.
Around 9:00 AM we got into the car and drove to the far overlooks of the North Rim. We drove through burn out areas again.
Our first stop was Point Imperial, which is the highest point of the canyon rim at 8803 feet.
We then drove to the Visa Encantada overlook.
The next stop was Roosevelt Point.
I took a walk down the short trail,
I took some pictures of the flora.
and a geological marker,
The next stop was Wahalla Overlook. It is one of the lowest points at the canyon and you can see the Colorado River as it meanders through the canyon.
