can anyone tell me if hotels sell out Halloween night and days preceding it. How busy are parks Halloween day? Tia

October is traditionally been a good time of year to go. Just keep in mind the significant cost of the Mickey Halloween Party if you want a full night in the park.

Yes but this last October was a month long madhouse in the parks to the shock of everybody.

Holy-moly yes! Tickets went up like 20% this year & Halloween night is always in the most expensive tickets.

As for crowds I too remember reports this last year that Halloween itself was a nice day to be in the parks. I think it's because Tues is just a pain in the rear day for Halloween, maybe it will be similar with this year being Wed- maybe not. You just don't know!

I did not go on Halloween, but attended the halloween party earlier that month. Like others mentioned, I don't think the hotels booked up, but the parks were a madhouse. When planning out dates, I highly suggest looking at when party times are, park hours, and when certain schools have fall breaks (which is why October can be so insane). Below is the link to the Halloween thread from this past year. It could give insight to booking hotels and trip info.

I agree that the parks were unbearable at times in October. We were there for a full week and surprised how busy the week days were. The weekends were the WORST!

The school fall break does impact the attendance.
Here's the thread with this information. I'll include 2017 and the evolving 2018 thread.

Any more for an October trip I just will pick the dates that works for my needs and plan accordingly.

Halloween is late enough in October that you miss all the fall breaks (depending on actual day of Halloween.) We have always gone Nov 1st +/- day and it's never been too crowded. This year, we were there ON halloween which was phenomenal. SM was standby 15 minutes, all day. Crazy. Especially with maxpass, I don't think we waited in line for anything. Monday was more crowded but not terrible, Wednesday was ok too. I think especially if Halloween is a school day, anybody that goes Halloween day is going to likely be going to the party itself and not everyone can swing both. $120/person for the party, but that was also phenomenal. Ride lines were non-existent, treat lines went quickly. Parade spots did fill up pretty fast for 9pm parade.

All of October is a super fun time to go to the parks but its also very crowded. The Halloween parade, during the additional ticket events, is probably the best parade Disney has. Its really great. Big changes could be coming for the 2018 Halloween season. Likely a bigger push to move more things/events to DCA.

I am thinking of doing Mickeys Halloween Party on Halloween this year. I would, most likely, fly there for it on that day. What time can I plan on being able to get into the park as this is a Wednesday this year.

If it's the same as years past, a ticket to the EVENT allows entry 3 hours prior to the beginning of the event.

The overlap hours do get PACKED!!

If you are planning a trip that goes into the weekend of 11/3-11/4 do note that this is Dapper day. Just so you are aware.

Thank you for the information GenGen. I do know this--it is why I am going then to get in both Halloween and DD rates through the weekend!! I missed Halloween last year when I went for DD and the timing works for me this year and it is big -0 birthday so a perfect combo :)
