mystery That happens to be our favorite split..ending a trip in RPC...and it's so lovely during the holidays...just not a time to enjoy the lobby at all...lol...makes staying in RPC at the time even nicer...Enjoy...We are hoping to do the same again this winter ! :thumbsup2

Keeping our fingers crossed about the pool news being correct!

~Perusing the Shop Disney Parks app...lots of very cool new MBs available..just sayin...incase anyone "needs" to add to their collection lol ... ::yes:: ;)...wouldnt it be nice if there were resort specific ones available at each individual resort!
Hope that everyone is having a terrific Tuesday...:earsgirl:

Hi all :flower3: Been away for a few months so just getting back into reading reports of a refurb on the beach pool. Are they redesigning or just doing maintenance type work? We had such a good time there last summer. Loved having a meal by the beach pool and people watching. Had a FABULOUS chicken sandwich on a homemade GF bun twice there. Couldn't bring myself to order something different because it was already such perfection. I think it had avocado, balsamic vinegar, tomato, grilled chicken....:cloud9:

I forgot I have more questions !

Is the Bounty platter no longer on the breakfast menu ? Is the quiche a combination of ham, Swiss, and spinach, or are there two different choices ? I have a pork allergy and was a bit surprised to see it looks like they don’t have an option without.

Are tator tots an option at lunch ?

I did not eat breakfast at Gaspirllas, so I can not comment on the quiche.

I did not see tator tots as an option for lunch, I did not ask though.

I can't answer your specific menu questions but wanted to say Gaspie's as well as the Beach Pool bar are very accommodating for food allergies. They can usually modify menu items and substitute other allergy friendly options. I cannot eat gluten or egg yolks and my DD16 is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, bananas, and melons. We always had great meals with ONE exception. Had a bad experience with room service and would never attempt that again with so many allergy requests. Something about speaking to someone only over the phone about your needs that does not always translate well with so many different people involved.....

I think just maintenance but no actual news given.

Missed seeing you around :flower1:

They were painting the rocks behind the waterfall and the pool bar when we were there earlier this month. Looked like routine maintenance.

Hi blueSkies :wave2:

My fav at Beach Pool is the crab cake burger. Yum. Love eating there, and the seating area on the lake is so pleasant. Lots of great menu items all cooked there. The Courtyard pool food comes from Gaspys.

Hey guys! I’m new to this thread, we just booked a room at GF for December!! It’s our very first GF stay, so I have a few questions for you veterans!

Standard Garden View ok?? Or should we upgrade to lagoon? We’ll have a 2 and 4 year old with us, so I wanted to hopefully be close (ish) to the main building... is this not even possible with the standard garden view category? I’ve looked around and can’t seem to find a map that shows where each room type is, maybe you can point me in the right direction :)

Also, the couch in the room, does it make into a bed? Haven’t seen a picture of it folded out, was hoping to put the 4 year old on it!

Thanks!

Check out the website Touring Plans for room locations and views.

The bed flips towards you and becomes a twin bed easy peasy. Long enough for most adults.

Sago or big pine key probably closest to main building but really all not too far. I was in boca chica last year and that wasn't bad.

Lv is nice if want water view . However sago has garden category that faces the monorail and end of lake or towards the marina. Not bad for the price.

Look at some maps and get a feel for where the buildings are it really helps.
@foodiddiedoo is right, TP a great place to see buildings etc.

Hello all! I have always dreamed of a stay at GF, but can never convince the family to switch from the BW. We are planning a trip in November, and I am contemplating heading down a couple of days earlier than the rest of the family, with my 7 year old granddaughter, and treating us to a stay at GF. Now I'm wondering if 2 nights will be enough. In my mind, I'm thinking sleep in a little (enough trips under our belt to be passed the rope-drops!), enjoy some pool time (we've only ever visited in January before, and it wasn't particularly warm); sticking to only MK and doing all the rides that the rest of the adult-family never want to "waste" time on. Just wondering if/what might be good for a 7 year old at the resort? Should I plan on 3 nights?

We’ve stayed in Big Pine and Boca Chica. The standard garden rooms are courtyard pool views and those buildings are just across the lawn from the main building. I think they’re great locations. We’ve also had a lagoon view in Big Pine. We faced The Poly. It was nice, but imo not worth the extra $. You are also next to the Courtyard pool, and a short walk from Beach Pool.

I’ll always vote for more time! 2 days seems so short.

I think the the Grand Floridian might be the ideal spot for a grandmother/granddaughter trip.

Things to consider
1) You two can go to “high tea” in the lobby. The Tea event is pricey but gets good reviews. There might be one seating that is friendlier to kids.
2) Go to a character meal at 1900 Park Faire. I think it is a Mary Poppins theme or a Cinderella theme depending on which meal you go to.
3) Two great pools. One has a great slide feature that kids love.
4) There is the Royal Princess Parade, led by Cinderella and Prince CHarming. See this post. https://www.disboards.com/threads/t...t-disneys-grand-floridian-resort-spa.3493412/ But be sure to check on the dates it is offered. It is no longer available every day. Check with the concierge desk to find out when it is running.
5) Ride the monorail. You could visit the other monorail resorts, go shopping, etc.
6) Narcoosies is a very nice meal. If you stay until the time of the Magic Kingdom Fireworks, you can walk outside to the dock outside Narcoosies and watch the fireworks with the music piped in.
7) If you are comfortable with boats, you can rent an inexpensive pontoon boat and explore Bay Lake and 7 Seas Lagoon.
8) Grab a chair in the lobby and listen to the Grand Floridian SOciety Orchestra, which plays in the lobby. Your granddaughter might prefer to watch them from the railing of the 2nd floor so she can watch the musicians play their instruments.
9) If you don’t want a deluxe restaurant, go to the Quick Service - Gasparillas - You can watch the fireworks with music from here, too.

Have a great time!

all great ideas!!!! thank you!

I read something about going through security at the resort, so you don't have to do that outside the MK. Is that correct? Is there a different line for GF guests to get through? I'm a little confused about all this!

I was just going to mention that you should book the tea! What an amazing and truly "grand" experience. I've also heard great things about Ivy Trellis - if grandma is feeling very generous maybe your little princess could get a hairdo before tea time for a day she'll never forget
