My DH and I have had Global entry now for two years, and love it. We fly out of Boston's Logan airport each time we fly international (5 times in last four years). What I cannot understand is, why do we have to wait in the long lines going to our destination for security, and not have some sort of expedited line for international travel? It is the BEST coming back into the country, just going to the kiosk and skipping the huge customs line, but why don't they allow us to use the PreCheck lines to our destination, just like we do domestically?

You should have pre-check access for domestic flights, but it seems some airlines can’t include pre-check when flying internationally.

Depends on the airline. I asked once at Dulles and was told that, for International flights, Pre-Check lines were only for flights on US or Canadian based airlines. That does match with my experience, but not sure if it is totally true. May differ by airport too.

And thats what doesn't make sense to me. If we have been vetted and have Global Entry, why can't we have expedited lines at the beginning of our international trips?

Maybe because Global Entry is US based and other countries don't recognize it? Just a total guess.

Yes, always. It doesn't make a difference on the first leg. At least at Logan airport, I have never seen Precheck lines at the international terminals. Has anyone?

There is no separate terminal for international departures at SeaTac. You will see international and domestic planes side by side. Customs is on the bottom floor so when the international planes arrive they just adjust the jetways so the passengers walk straight into customs.

It does (or should) if you are on a US or Canadian based carrier. The issue is with International based carriers - not your destination.

Again, this is what I was told by TSA and matched my experience (and I fly internationally roughly monthly on both US-based airlines and not).

Depends on the airport and airline.

I often fly non stop from Cincinnati to Paris and always get to go through the precheck line.

No. My whole question has to do with going to the destination.

Either way you fly you're going to a destination. :)

And since your experience is very much not mine or DH's when traveling out of the US, I had to understand the whole question.

Sounds like this is an airport specific thing.

Exactky. So at SeaTac as long as DH's
GE info is either in his airline profile, or pasted into the spot for certain airlines (united) during online checkin, he gets precheck when leaving the US. And I would get it with my nexus number (I just haven't flown internationally since June when I got the card). Because you travel to the intl gates after you get into the secure part.

Are there *any* precheck lines at the intl terminal at Logan? If so (though it looks like you haven't seen any), next time try typing/pasting in the number during online checkin, if in the past you've been letting it pull from your airline account especially if you're on United. See if there's a difference.

Fascinating page I just found. https://www.tsa.gov/precheck/schedule

Assuming intl terminal is E, my quick check there never saw that terminal pop up for precheck.

And on flyertalk I found a thread saying that if pre is open at terminal C you can go through (assuming your boarding pass shows the precheck info on it) then walk to E. A poster there gave a link: http://massport.airportwayfinder.co...1G-Voq0iQkB.mp4&cc=BOS_TBT_C to E Walk_en.srt

The lightbulb just went on, finally. This makes perfect sense and now I get it. Thanks to everyone for your input, appreciate it!

Another point to think on

When you arrive in Europe ........ There are 2 lines for Passport Control

One for European Union Passport Holders ( Me ) & one for NON European Passport Holders

including U.S.A. & Canadian People.

Great fun will happen when U.K. leaves The European Union .

Could be like the Swiss who aren't EU but can use those lines (though they are Schengen and the UK is not)

Only certain airlines participate in TSA PreCheck. The list is here: https://www.tsa.gov/precheck/participating-airlines

Also, as PP have noted you have to provide your KTN to the airline [different airlines handle this differently].

Right, I guess I'm just hoping the international airlines would get on board with this. It would really ease up the long lines at the start of your trip.
