We’re all going on a Summer Holiday to the Disney Parks -WISH July Lifestyle/Challenge

I'm sorry you're feeling bad about cancelling your trip. But 7 nights on DCL is going to be amazing!
I know that feeling, but really it's not a failure to recognize something just isn't sitting right and make an adjustment. A seven night cruise sounds divine... enjoy!
:grouphug: Thanks guys! I know it is such a 1st world problem and I will have a blast. It will be nice to do a long vacation without having to worry about a race.

QOTD- I tried a diet pill diet from a dr with a couple friends. It worked, we lost a lot quickly but I gained it backed quickly, it was less than a 1000 cal a day and my stocmache, thighs , arms got very flabby/droopy from it. Like people with gastric, which is why I onlky wanted to try something healthy. My friend has been on and off that pill diet for probably 8 yrs and when her kids were heavy she put them on it as well. Crazy.

I was willing to try WW and doing well with it due to it being about changing my eating all together. I am hoping to be able to do more physical activities. Even just the higher amounts of walking irritates my left side from hip to knee to heel. Ugh...So for me it has to be more about what I eat right now.

Epcot SE_ I like the top, all the stars, seeing the earth. I hope in my kids lifetime they will have the chance to do that as a trip. Fly around out there, Disney Moon, week on the space station...

What kind of experiments have you make with your healthy lifestyle? What worked and what didn't? Most of the experiments were at the hands of others telling me what to do. My mother because well when your a kid raised in the 80s you sure didn't think that you knew better than your parents or at least you didn't dare express it because well the punishment was not sit in time out and then we will talk out our feelings about this if you get my drift. The going to eating mainly carbs and by this I mean bread, cereal, rice, pasta well that one was why I ended up gaining officially 50 pounds with my 12 year old ( I had actually loss 10 pounds in the 3 months from my most recent appointment prior to finding out I was expecting her so in reality it was 60) because I had a nutritionist from the maternal child health program for low income families telling me if you don't follow this your neglecting your child and it would be a shame if you were investigated. By the time she quite and I was able to change my diet back to high protein there was not much I could do about it. Oh and I only gained 20 pounds with 9 year old and 8.75 of that was her. A roommates mother tried to inform me that I needed to do the LA diet that she put roommate on. 1 If it involves that I have to purchase your protein bars, shakes, or vitamins forget it, and 2 if it involves complicated rules like do not eat beef and fish not only in the same meal but in the same day or even in consecutive days and never more than one serving of beef a week, and 2 servings of fish, no nuts, no pork, and if your a vegan I hope you can come up with a complete protein that does not involve rice because that's a no as well. ( Hope you like a plain baked chicken breast because your eating a lot of it on this plan).

Bonus: What is your favorite scene in Spaceship Earth?
Haven't been on this one though I can't remember if it was closed during our trip in 10 or if it is something the rest of our family went on while we had our breakfast in Norway with the princesses.

I got 10 minutes in today concentrating on doing toning which I haven't done for a while.

QOTD:
I guess the only really crazy thing I ever tried is fasting. I tried it once for a week. It was more interesting from a mental point of view, did not help with a lot of weight loss. I am happy that I tried it once, but know that it is not for me.
But I have often tried new and varied approaches, I find that changing up my routine often gives me a boost of energy and motivation and that is always helpful. So, experimenting with new things in healthy living is a good thing for me, but I stay with more conventional approaches like WW, Zumba and things like that!

Bonus QOTD:
The animated cave paintings! I love cave paintings and love the fact that they are included there.

I was going to say I am all sound and haven't done crazy stuff.. but then I thought about it!

After I stopped smoking I gained some weight and
I did atkins for 4 days. I felt ill
I did low carb for 4 weeks but wasn't feeling the best and regained it
I did fruit only diet for 4 days - it didn't work

I found calorie counting and it worked for me for 8 years.
I moved to stressful job and gained some weight. Tried no added sugar for 100 days. Lost a lot of weight and I found it easy. Ate Sugar at WDW. felt like failure. Went through few diet yoyo cycles for up to 15 kg. I felt it's too hard and I need to find moderation

Went back counting calories and thinking sustainability 2015 and have been somewhat ok since.

I keep changing little things around, as life changes what work changes but i am not willing to do crazy experiments anymore

That always happens to me when I try those fad diets too.

You'll have to try it next time, I find it very relaxing.

I think this is where I am now, trying new things gives me a boost but they are definitely more conventional these days.

This sounds very similiar to @Flossbolna. I think this is the best way to go, changes things up but don't go overboard.

Happy Friday!!

Let's make this Friday a fun day and visit Club Cool.

Epcotclubcool252822529.jpg

Located near the Fountain of Nations in Epcot, this soda shop is probably unlike any soda shop you've ever been to before. Here you can try popular sodas from around the world.

r-1383004980-ClubCool1.jpg

Some of these sodas are quite good, others are just awful (Beverly I'm looking at you!)
But this place is great for beating the heat or just be silly with your family.

What are your feelings on Soda?

Have you been to Club Cool? If so what is your favorite soda? How about your least favorite?

Sorry for the late question guys, this day has been just one of those days!! And here is proof
sampaint.jpg

Yes that is my two year old covered in paint. I guess it is really my fault because thought I could clean while the kids were painting LOL.
What are your feelings on Soda?
I have given up soda. I may, on special occasions, have a root beer but I generally find all sodas too sweet now.

My family loves club cool and we could probably spend an hour in there. The kids think it is hilarious to make each other try the bad ones. I like the green one, I think it is melon. I hate the Beverly :crazy2:

QOTD- no soda for me. I used to drink diet coke all the time. I learned that I do not react well to aspartame so that was finished. That was about 15 yrs ago. I have soda in the house in the 2nd fridge for guests but even my kids rarely drink it.

Club Cool is fun, they try a few dif. ones every now and again. When they were young they really enjoyed trying all of them.

Never been wanted to go can't remember why we didn't except that when we were in the area more in likely someone I am guessing my sister or sister in law went I didn't like it the last time ( they all went in 04 but I was expecting and even though both the airlines and my doctor said I could travel my DH and I got the job of house sitting my parents house-at least we had the Disney Channel) and since they were the "experts" ( won't bother with how much we missed out on because they had no idea about reading a book, using a plan, or being on message boards-the only thing looked up was what the unofficial guide had in an old edition as to what parks had EMH and when each day so they could say what park what day. After that it was go in a group as much as possible ( my family found reasons to split off which made everyone else mad-I was not going to make my kids too small to ride the thrill rides wait around while those 2 and my brother rode, my dad sat on a bench, and my mom and aunt took brother and sister's kids ( who were also too small) shopping-not exactly a fun time for a 2 year old and personally I don't think 4 year old nephew enjoyed it either)

I am fine with Soda though I would rather have the ones with cane sugar over HFC especially in colas ( that stuff just sticks to my teeth and feels tacky), I don't do diet since the chemically made sweeteners I react to and the ones with Stevia taste so darn sweet you might as well have taken a regular one and added 1/3-1/2 the amount of sugar to liquid ratio to it. I keep Pepsi in my house for 2 general purposes ( keep me awake when a certain child decides that sleep is not necessary, and she gets to split a can with what ever adult is taking her to therapy ( usually DH but next week it is me since he has jury duty selection unless it gets canceled like last time) as it does help her focus.

I would rather have Spritzer though and will admit I cried when I found out that the company that was making them went out of my area-they had great flavors like peach, passion orange, strawberry, raspberry. At least they brought back the NY ones in the small glass bottles.

What a picture!

QOTD: Thankfully I've never been a soda person (or a pop person, as it's most often called on the west coast), because I don't like carbonation. I do drink root beer every once in a while, and prefer it poured over ice cream. Did go the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco TX last year and it was actually interesting, in a pop culture kind of way.

I think I've only done Club Cool once or twice. I'm pretty sure we tried the Beverly - yuck. And the sticky floor was kind of yucky too.

No big plans for the weekend, just kicking back and enjoying the fact that I'm not on call for work :cool1:. I do want to see the movie 'Dunkirk'. Last weekend I watched 'Their Finest' on-demand and the evacuation from Dunkirk was part of that movie story-line. I love historical movies and all things British, although from what I reading part of the power of this film is in depicting the chaos of war, so it will be tough to watch and thought provoking.

Have a good one everyone.

I have been, but I don't drink soda so I didn't sample them. I drink sparkling water, or soda water and add things as lime and mint usually

I am conflicted about going to ww meeting today
I like the recipes
I like the meetings
I like the weigh in
It makes me think twice before taking empty calories
I am 4lbs down this week.

I am not impressed that they decided to not make the app available in my country. I don't see myself counting calories and points long term. I only counted 5 out of 7 days, as honestly I felt I know my eating is what I want it to be last two days.

I feel I want to go but I also feel as faker as I don't honestly intent to use what they preach :)

I will most likely go for at least 5 or 6 weeks and will see after. If I lose pound a week this will bring me to my goal weight.

Apart from the empty calories, i made two changes
disconnected fitbit from mfp. I don't want to be earning point/calories, eating more, having to walk more, being more hungry
And they also suggest having a mid morning snack. I am not breakfast person and even if I have breakfast I get so hungry by lunch! Having mid morning snack, my lunch is later and I am not as hungry at dinner time.

I got 10 minutes in for Friday back to walking for today though because of having fires really close all exercise is inside. The haze is just awful right now. Needless to say there is no outdoor exercising even in the cool of the day going on. For today I got 30 minutes in walking around Walmart. The girls both had small animal livestock judging and small animal skillathon today plus 12 year old had large animal skillathon. We don't know the placing for skillathon but they both got blue ribbons for livestock judging. I am going to tell the club we need 4 more kids to go next year since with 9 year old and the younger brother of one of our other kids in the club who has been doing the competitions as long as 12 year old we doubled our clubs representation this year.

Epcot is known for it's festivals.
Currently there are three throughout the year.
In the Spring there is Flower and Garden.

In the fall is the wildly popular Food and Wine

and in the Winter there is the Festival of the Arts

In life the different seasons can bring their own advantages and disadvantages. How do you adapt to the changing seasons? Do you find yourself slacking when it is too cold, too hot or maybe too dark? Do you get motivated when summer is around the corner? What can you do to help yourself prepare for these changes?

Bonus: What is your favorite Epcot festival?

AOTD- I am in south Florida so I find it tough from June to Oct. Too hot and way to humid to do outside things. I don't mind what time it gets dark for walking and such, it is cooler. I love in the winter to take the binocs we have for astronomy and take our time and look at the stars. There is so much light pollution by us we try and take advantage whenever it is clearer and darker. I find the food , mostly produce, is so much cheaper and more avail in the summer. I like that and notice the scale is easier to go down that time of year.

Epcot- I love the flower and garden. So pretty. Food and wine is fun, but we don't really drink. It is also definitely more money trying all the foods.

it's funny people associate summer and sun in Florida with having outdoors lifestyle but the reality is it can be too hot for being outside!

I love spring summer! In Ireland, the weather is never too hot or too cold. It can be dull and some summers we can be left craving for some good weather. I hate the winter, short days, rain day after day sometimes, damp and dull. I had to stop going to the gym on my lunch break as it can be my only chance to be outdoors when there is day light.

I have only been to Epcot Food and Wine. It's great fun. I am trying to decide when to go next year but spring is hard to organise due to school breaks and I wonder when will they be ready with some of the new projects.

This is one of the big whys I started to just do walking and light hand weights in my house. We had cold and snow into mid April this year though there have been times that there is still snow in early to mid May. The spring rains and mud started in late April/early May going into early June. Nice spring weather with no mud was the middle of June turning to extreme heat in late June/early July. Early mornings ( before 8 am) or late evenings ( after 9:30-10 pm) are cool enough for being out though for the evenings you need to have an alternate light as it is dark. Fires started really picking up in the 2nd week in July with us having gone to stage 1 fire restrictions on June 30 and stage 2 on July 14. My county is one that has been declared a natural disaster area due to drought by the governor. The worse one is in Garfield County which as of Sunday Night was over 265 K acres and 0% contained 12 families have lost their homes.
I got 10 minutes in for Sunday.

Bonus: What is your favorite Epcot festival?
Need to get to them all first than I can choose maybe

Hello all - I have been MIA for a few days - super busy end of work week and weekend for Dad's 80th birthday celebration on Sunday. We had fantastic weather, yummy food and a good family catch up.

@MommaoffherRocker our deal was for me to do the last week ... are you ready to take it a little easier and I will do QOTDs for rest of the month?
