I'm asking for clarification for my Diet Coke addicted relatives.

1) how is the flavor of the Diet Coke in the fountains?
2) is there a limit of how many cans you can carry on?
3) can you bring your own cup to use at the fountain?
4) is there some drink package so you don't have to trek up to the fountains every time you need a refill?

Sheesh. Heaven help us if these two are short on their Diet Coke supply for one beeping day.

1) Its excellent.
2) They have to be in your carry on and that has to fit through a standard (airport-style) bag scanner
3) Yes, but you need to first use their cup to actually get the beverage and then pour it into your cup
4) Somebody else will have to chime in on this one.

You may order all the sodas you'd like from room service, but they aren't free. I can't help out with the cost, I just bring extra cups of soda to my room (lids are at the soda fountain location)and put them in the fridge until I want them. I've never seen a "soda package" offered.

On number 3, it is absolutely fine to fill your own cup directly from the fountain It's silly and wasteful to use a "fresh" cup to fill up your own cup.

Sorry, but it isn't. There are signs around the soda fountains saying not to use your own cups. It is a hygiene issue. You are supposed to use a fresh cup each time, not refill cups. So use a clean cup and fill it a couple of times to pour into your bigger cups. The paper cup is clean, with no germs on the lip and no backwash to transfer or splash back on the dispenser.

Well that's something at least. We'll just have to make do with running for soda to keep the peace (handicapped...).

I swear, I do not get the sheer dependency on diet coke. I like it, but I can live with other beverages, thanks. They act like they are being deprived of live sustaining nutrients if they don't get it. :confused3

Bring one of those giant Bubba Brand 52 oz mugs...refill it once or twice a day :)

Please don't spread misinformation on something that there are posted notices regarding. As WeLoveStitch42 said, there are notices at the drink machines stating that a fresh cup needs to be used each time.

I had a CM tell me the signs are silly and they are not enforced. They are correct, the signs are silly.

This was probably the same cast member that I saw refilling her bottle directly from the soda machine -- with the lip of the bottle touching the spout. Gross. As in all things there are inconsiderate people who think they are above rules and since it doesn't directly affect them, it's fine to ignore the rule. There are plenty of people who travel who work hard to minimize their exposure to germs because of health conditions. I think it is a small thing for me to use a clean cup (just one, I can fill that clean cup several times if I need to in order to fill my reusable cup) to keep someone else from getting ill.

As for drink packages, there is not one where you can get a deal if you are stopping at a bar to get the needed Diet Coke - I believe if you get a Diet Coke from the bar it comes in the can. The only special I can think of is from room service where you can order 6 cans but if they are carrying on their DC, this doesn't help them out.

I will disagree on some points. People who refill their own cups normally (99%?) take the part off the cup that touches their mouth. This is more sanitary than the Disney cups unless you think nobody else's hand touches those cups before you. If you believe that, sit nearby and watch how many people grab cups and put extras back in the dispenser. Or drop it on the deck and then put it back in the holder. After 5 minutes of watching you will never use a cup from the dispenser again.

Building on that where you say use 1 cup to fill up the personal cup is contradictory. If it is unsanitary to fill your cup (that doesn't have a lid that touched your mouth) then why is it sanitary to use 1 cup over and over to fill your personal container? No, based on what you said you need a clean cup for every time you pour into another container. See, once you fill the "clean" Disney cup and pour it in your container, that Disney cup is now contaminated from being near your personal container. So if it takes 3 cups to fill your bottle, then you need 3 cups every time. Of course, all of those cups probably came off the floor near the machine anyway.

Does anyone know if the Dream carries Dr. Pepper? My husband is totally addicted and will probably have to resort to carrying it onboard if not.

Disney is a friend of Coca-Cola ... no Pepsi products. They do have ginger ale in the bars, but I believe that's the only other soda available that's not in the self-service soda stations.

No there are a number of other soda choices you can get from the bars that are not at the self-serve station. I have gotten root beer several times (Barq's which is in the Coca Cola family), friend traveling with us have gotten orange soda (Fanta, also in the Coca Cola family). So there are other options outside of the self-serve choices.

But back to the original question about Dr. Pepper and I think you're right since it isn't in the Coca Cola family, it probably isn't available but I don't know for sure. Chances are high OP that you'll have to carry it on.
