2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Oh no!! Keep a close eye on it and your airline (are you flying?) to see if they start allowing people to shift flights for free....

Absolutely.

Those of you that run 30/30 intervals race day, do you wear head phones during the half to hear ques? Currently I do 2 min run/ 1 min walk. I read a blog about 30 sec run/ 30 sec walks and how recovery was faster and a better time over all. Any thoughts?

I bought a Galloway beeper and it's so loud I heard it over my earbuds. And with my earbuds I can hear noisy runners around me and announcements on the course and any music they might have in some places.

I will have to look into that. My hubby isn't able to leave any earlier due to prior commitments, so I am hoping that as long as we can get down to the airport (2.5 hours south), the weather will be better there. They are only supposed to get 1-3" right now. That little amount won't cancel a flight, right? :upsidedow

1-3" is fine.

But even 8" in places where people get snow isn't bad. It's bad in Seattle but not, say, Chicago.

The issue isn't just your airport though. You need to watch where your flight is coming from (look it up on flightaware). If a plane can't get out from where they are to get to you then you need to start getting flexible.

It's not worth panicking over, but it's worth thinking about and planning for. (Forgive that sentence structure)

This is my first disney race and my 5th half marathon. In training I've PR'd my previous halfs and I would like to do that this weekend, however every blog I read is very negative about getting a PR on this course. Other people I have talked to have said the same thing. I'm in corral C, I have done very large races before and I will be there for 3 days prior with my kids in the parks so I don't have as much of a need to stop for pictures. I know that you pay for the experience but I also wanted to race this race...is it really impossible to PR?
It isn't quite a sub 2 hour time (2:04), but here's an older blog post about a young woman and her fiancée who did a PR from Corral C. I think they even stopped for a photo and she knocked 2 minutes off her old PR

Well....progress. Picked what I'm wearing.

5K - USA Soccer tank top, black shorts & USA soccer visor in support of my soccer loving daughter who I won't get to see at her trophy ceremony on Saturday. Debating wearing it Saturday instead, but it's a 100% cotton shirt. Not sure I'll survive a 10K in it.

10K - Black running skirt, white tank and I have a really cute black & white mickey headband, but not sure I can tolerate it so I have a white mickey visor as backup

1/2 - can't decide on shorts or a skirt so i packed both in purple with a black tank. i was hoping to get a GSC or 1/2 visor at the expo, but RunDisney probably won't have anything besides regular hats. So I may go pick something up at the store tonight that will match and just keep the tags on until I know for sure.

I've also packed running tights and will keep an eye on the weather for need of throw away sweatshirts.

Anyone know where I can buy the individually wrapped moist towlettes like restaurants give out? I've gone to Dick's Sporting Goods and Walgreens.

I don't know if you have a Christmas Tree Shops near you, but I've gotten boxes of them there before. They were great for tucking in the diaper bag.

Just got an alert on my phone that we (Twin Cities, MN) are under a Winter Weather Watch for Thursday night through Friday... good thing I leave early early on Thursday morning. Phew. This is a bit of a shock to the system after it being in the 60's this last weekend!

I am supposed to fly Friday morning but am thinking about calling to see if they will move me to thursday because of the weather. :( anyone have any experience with doing that with an airlines?

Yes - but call asap! they usually waive fees - and announce it on their website in an alert. Definitely worth looking into! Good luck!

No, especially since you'll be starting in Corral C - you're starting early enough that you'll be out in front of most of the other participants.

Bottlenecks happen on the course due to photo stops and areas where the course gets narrow and people slow down to "take it all in," take pictures, etc. The "worst offenders" (in my opinion) are World Drive as you approach the Contemporary (1 lane of traffic to run in), Main Street in Magic Kingdom, running back out through the castle, and right when you leave Magic Kingdom (again, 1 lane of traffic). But again, since you're in Corral C, I don't think you'll experience this much unless you stop for pictures, bathroom, etc. :confused3
I agree that it is possible but be careful of the bottlenecks above. Also i cannot express enough how important it isn't to stay within the designated course. I have seen runners "dart" out into the other "empty" lane outside the cones. They have cop cars leading traffic through the other lane from alternating directions. I have seen people almost run over because they were trying so hard to PR. Just a word of advice to any new WDW runners.

I don't wear headphones, but not because of that. I like to be immersed in the race environment, so I don't like having them in. Disney is the only place I do this. I have a Garmin 220, so it vibrates for my intervals. There's so much beeping, it's hard to hear which is yours. I do love my 30/30 intervals! You're awfully close to race day to try changing though. That would make me nervous!

You might want to check with your resort. I heard Disney now charges a fee for deliveries to the resorts.

It's $5. Not great, but not too bad, if you get free shipping from somewhere.

I leave Thursday afternoon. I should really figure out what I'm going to wear for the races. :confused3 Plenty of time!

I delayed so much my intended expo pickup things are out of stock and pickup has ended. Here my cousin has made adorable Belle outfits, and I got nothin'. :(

I might have to just go rogue. Black sparkleathletic with my "I thought they said rum" shirt and running pants of some kind. I do have a blue shirt that's Belle'ish, but what to wear underneath. And then...I have turquoise and a white sparkleathletic skirts as well... I'm pretty much packing everything, LOL.

I was going to get the Beast Mode rawthreads shirt, but dithered because that's kind of a Seahawks thing, and I'm just not an NFL fan. It would make hubby and son smile, but...

Sparkleathletic has sparkly visors. :)
