Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

We're booked for our first stay at BLT this summer & I have some questions about transportation to EPCOT from BLT/CR.

1. Currently the EPCOT monorail is closed until 9:00am on Mondays & Tuesdays. In cases like this, do they run buses from CR to EPCOT earlier in the morning for guests to make rope drop?

2. Is there a daily bus from CR to EPCOT for early ADRs? If so, what time does it start running? The information I can find says the EPCOT monorail doesn't start running until 8:00am even when it's on it's regular schedule.

I'm looking forward to being able to walk to MK, but this EPCOT monorail business is throwing me off when I'm used to just taking buses to all the parks.

If we are at Epcot and have a lunch adr at 12:30 at homecoming in Disney springs...what time should we leave and what is the best way to get there?

What is the best route to get from AoA to Wolfgang Puck Cafe - Westside for dinner at 6:30pm? I just read that the westside bus stop is closed. YIKES! Is this true?! Our plans is to arrive at AoA on Wed, Feb 15th by 1pm. Hang out at hotel, take bus to Disney Spring and hang out for a while and then have dinner down there, and finally take bus back after dinner to AoA.

Where did you read that?

Hi Joelkfla - I read it here on this website - http://www.wdwinfo.com/transportation/bus_schedules.htm
That info is outdated. The West Side bus depot has not been used by Disney resort buses in decades. The Marketplace depot closed last year.

A new centralized depot, located about where the old Pleasure Island depot was, is now in use. Buses drop off at the new Town Center area, which is a short walk to both the West Side and the Marketplace. Wolfgang Puck's is probably about a 10 minute walk at most from the drop off.

To get from Saratoga Springs to AKLodge Jambo house, should I get on any park (except MK) or Disney Springs bus, then transfer to the AKLodge bus? Which bus is best? The AKpark bus lot was very inconvenient to transfer. Would DHS or Epcot be better? Or should we just hop on the first bus that shows up?

If it were me, I would take the bus to AK, then transfer to the AKL bus. Not sure why it's inconvenient....it's about the same as any of the parks. I always try to take a bus that drops me closest to my final destination...AK bus in this case. The other option would be bus or boat over to DS and then transfer to the AKL bus there. Depends on the time of day.

Need to get from AK to Italy in Epcot for dinner at 5:30pm.

Would it be better to take the bus from AK to Epcot, or a bus from AK to Beach Club and use the Int'l Gateway?
I've never stayed at the BC before. Will they allow non-hotel guests to cut through to get to Epcot? I'm guessing (hoping) the way is clearly marked.

Any idea how much time we should allow?

Thank you!!!

Beach Club is about 5 minutes shorter walk. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the lobbies and other public areas of Disney resorts. Just walk thru the lobby out to the lake, and turn left.

Allow 1:15; 1 hour to the resort, another 15 min. to walk to Italy. Maybe add another 15 in case there's a backup at the security check coming into IG.

Thank you. The inconvenient part about transferring at AK park for AKL is the distance. It's way around on the other side of the road, and you are supposed to follow the sidewalk out and around instead of cutting straight across the road because of buses coming and going. I just wondered if the park buses and resort buses are closer to each other at Epcot or Hollywood Studios.

When a bus arrives at a park, it's drop off location is completely random. It depends on the bus's next destination, which isn't assigned until the bus is approaching the park. The only exceptions are some of the park-to-park buses, which in some cases return to the park from whence they came.

At AK, there are 10 load zones on the platform where the AKL bus loads, and 7 on the other platform, 2 of which are used by buses that return to other parks; so there's a 67% probability that an arriving bus will be on the same platform as the AKL bus, within 5 bus lengths. (It's really a bit lower, because the larger resorts are on the 2nd platform, and they get more buses during peak periods.)

DHS has the most compact bus area. The furthest walk to the AKL load zone (which happens to be right in the center) would be about 7 bus lengths. But the routes taken getting from SSR to AKL via DHS are longer and have more traffic and traffic lights.

At Epcot, I estimate the longest walk at about 9-10 bus lengths.

Thanks so much for all this good information. Heading to Orlando, from Maine, tomorrow for a week in a place without snow!

What would the best option be for HS to beaches and cream? May see fantasmic at 7 and an 8 reservation. Would leave as the boat was coming out in fantasmic to beat crowds. Would the best be boat to BC or bus?

Best way to get to Ohana for breakfast from Contemporary resort, i know the obvious answer however in the past it seems like sometimes the monorails dont operate during certain times in the morning and im afraid knowing my luck that for a 9am breakfast reservation that would happen to me.
