I love credit cards so much!

I may be totally misunderstanding this, but can someone tell me how you would go about redeeming points on a DVC rental? Are you just redeeming the points as a statement credit, or is there some kind of use of these points that I'm missing? Still trying to figure all this out and how to utilize my points in the best way.

I'm hoping to redeem my points as a travel statement credit with my Barclay Arrival card. Originally I paid the deposit with my CSR and it triggered the $300 travel credit.

Were you approved?

No - no official decision yet but it's not showing up in my Chase online account so I'm expecting a denied letter. I'm curious to see what Chase says is the reason. Still not sure if I will call to ask for reconsideration - the two free nights would be nice, but I've read that the two places we would be most likely to want to use them (NYC and London) are very difficult in terms of being able to actually use the free nights. And then there is the issue of having applied through an unofficial link.

A few questions for those of you with the American Express Business Platinum card (the one with the $450 annual fee!). I just used points to purchase a plane ticket for my daughter, going through the "use points" link on my AmEx account. Even though I used points, there is also a charge for the amount of the ticket - but from what I understand, that amount will be credited back at some point? Also, the flight is on American Airlines which is also the airline that is selected for the 50% bonus for that card - so at some point I should see half of the points from the flight added back, even though it was an economy flight?

Finally, any other perks that I should be aware of connected to having used this card for her flight?

Ok, thanks so much. That makes sense. I was trying to figure out how you'd be able to redeem points as the actual payment, but I totally get the travel statement credit. I recently used my CSR travel credit on some shore excursions for an upcoming cruise.

Is that David's? And it coded travel for Chase? I've been trying to find that out. For future reference.
Hoping Disney dining codes as dining for 3x points.

No, it's a different company. If you google that it will come up. I did find someone I PM'd a few months back that told me David's coded as travel on their Capital One card in 2015...

I just checked my Barclay account, and my DVC rental charge (via Paypal) posted and came up as travel (specifically LODGING HOTELS, MOTELS AND RESORTS).

Butttttt, it's not showing up as a charge I can redeem points against. Is there a delay for it to show up there? I've looked at travel charges in the redeeming miles section before, but I've never actually redeemed any... I put in a message to Barclay also, they always seem to answer quickly.

Their website gets a little funky overnight around 11p but if it coded as travel, you should be able to redeem today.

Gearing up to see if I can pull off the Hawaii first class airfare. I've got my kids on my Korean Skypass. Just need to send our driver's licenses to add my husband to it too. Has anyone here managed to pull off the Hawaii tickets?

In general if you're booking for 4 people.....would you book who you can and hope you can add the others later? Can you say book some 1st class, and some coach and possibly change the coach to first class later?

Any tips at all for booking 4 reward airline tickets? After I can lock in the flights, then I'm moving onto hotels :) We've got atleast 210K in UR points and 66K in starwoods to do this.

Thanks! It's showing up a choice for travel credit this morning! I knew I could count on the experts! :thumbsup2

We will have 15 hotel nights for our Wedding/Honeymoon trip, and our OOP cost will be around $1010 - $840 for 5 nights at BLT theme park view studio, and the rest is the resort fee at the Dolphin (6 nights), and then we'll have a few nights at the Four Points near Universal and a night in Canaveral which will all be covered via points.

My CSR showed up a couple days ago in a UPS overnight envelope but my family member (who got final approval the same day I did) got his today in one of the fancy boxes. What a presentation that box is!

I was actually hoping to get the "fancy box" as I'd read about it over on reddit. When mine came it was just in a plain old UPS envelope as well. Boo...LOL.

We were looking at the box thinking "we haven't ordered anything online lately..." lol! I can see why people un-boxed their cards on Youtube.

Did you call the automated status line? I'm not talking about recon line.

I have enough Reserve points for flights to Hawaii so I thought about adding 5-6 days in China. My husband already has the SW and Preferred card- can he also get the Reserve card? Or should he transfer his Preferred rewards to SW account and close Preferred account then apply for Reserve? My goal for flights would be:
NY to LA (or some west coast city)- SW points
LA to Bejing- husbands new Reserve points
Bejing to Singapore- ? (probably through a tour company)
Singapore to Hilo- husbands new Reserve points
Hilo to Honolulu- my Reserve points
Honolulu to NY- my reserve points with some to spare
