2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

So excited! We opted for villains - I'm the Evil Queen, friend is Ursula, and her mom is the Red Queen. Sparkle skirt for me (they're going slightly cheaper with capris), and the RT villain queen bow shirts! Found my crown/headband and Ursula's, just still searching Etsy for the Red Queen's.

I'm sorry that happened to you! Being left out just plain stinks!
After seeing the medals and day dreaming about the new Dooney that will surely be amazing, I think I need to convince DH. We always have a great time together so I have no worries there.

^Yes! I agree! I love seeing all of the pictures of people in tutus... but since it's my first half, I'm going to err on the side of being really comfortable, which means NO tutu.

I hope to get a princess minnie shirt made with my name on it :) I'll probably wear capris, but might toy with the idea of a running skirt (lululemon?) to be cooler. It's hard to imagine what the heat could be like in FL when the high here tmrw is 19F.

I will just say this...I know a lot of people wear tutus and love them, but I have seen a lot of tutus on the side of the road and in trashcans. If you are going to wear a costume, please train in it for more than a couple of miles. 13.1 miles is a long way for something to be chafing or annoying you.

I would never assume it will be hot. It might be, but it could just as easily be freezing. I've done 3 Princess years with 3 different types of climate. Bring a backup plan no matter what.

That sucks. A similar thing happened to me last year. I signed up to go with a group of girls and then I ended up staying home to do the work of one of the girl's so she could go (long story).

I totally understand having regret - especially after seeing the medals (see my 5k comments above!). If you really want to go and you can swing it cost/time wise, I think you should. You'll have a great time with your husband - and you guys can do your own thing. I think most people would agree that traveling with a bunch of girls can sometimes be like herding cats. And this way you won't be thinking about how you got left out of girls' weekend. You'll be thinking about the awesome time you had at Princess weekend. princess:

Why not make it a solo trip?! That's how I travel for short trips and it's great! There's always people around to talk to.

Agreed. I've done all of my race weekends solo and I always a have a blast.

Okay so I started 3 years ago with the 5k then the last 2 years I did two princess halves so I thought I would take a break until I saw the medals ... Big tears big regret for not registering. Any chance of getting a bib for GSC or Half and or 10k... I am AP and DV.C member and although the charities are great I could never raise that kind of money .. Suggestions for the sad princess?

Suggestions for the sad princess?

As mentioned earlier in the thread, Raw Threads club is probably your best option $125 for a year long membership and then you can register for GSC for $330. Much cheaper than Charity or Travel Agent, plus you can sign up for more races later in the year as medals are released.

Look up Magical Memory Planners - a TA. They're willing to work with APs (via a post on Facebook), not sure what that means though.

Is there a link you have? I can't find a direct link to Raw Threads just articles about them at the expo... Thanks!

Ok, I realize I am asking a biased group but.....
I'm really regretting not signing up for Princess this year. It used to be a girls weekend, then I got left out of the girls weekend. These girls are still going, but they signed up after telling me they weren't signing up because they couldn't afford it. I'll take the hint.
Do I go with my hubby instead? I was mostly fine with skipping this year because we are doing Light and Dark Side already. But then I saw the medals, and now I'm bummed all over again.

Sorry to hear you got left out..
I have gone several times solo. I have run with my girls, my son and one year my DH came. This year (as well as some others) I am solo and taking a couple extra days to enjoy the parks. If you want to do it then do it!
As I said in another post..the medal doesn't get me excited, but glad it inspires you!

The cold weather has set in and I am back on the TM. Sure hope we have great weather in FL this year on Princess Weekend!

Thanks for the info on raw threads club @courtneybeth
I hadn't realized they had run disney race registrations until this week.
I'm already registered for all 3 Princess races, but with the new early registration dates, I'll definitely keep this in mind for the future!

I will say I joined club for other perks that we got along way. I used Rt for my princess Reg. And I will say it was most stress less reg. I've done in FOREVER!!!. My biggest stressor over whole thing was my friend's reg. that just didn't seem to want to work, RT worked w me until we got problem resolved.

@Fire14 and @kathleen27 - The other runners perks are amazing. I love getting special discounts on the merch because I believe so highly in the product. Plus, the membership can get me and two friends into every race - perfect for my husband and I and maybe someone we choose to give some pixie dust to!

It is definitely worth it @kathleen27 to sign up for the club when you're ready to make your first registration through them (membership is good for 12 months - so if you registered today it'd be through December 2018). Knowing that 90% of the races won't sell out until much closer to the event makes it financially much easier for my hubs and I do to Disney races, especially when we're passholders and live down the street from Disneyland (don't need a hotel, don't need a park ticket). We then can register on our own time and not stress out about being online at 9am on a random Tuesday and hoping I won't be pulled into a meeting.

I'll let you know - but you'll need to join Raw Threads Club to get one.

Do they require tickets and rooms?

Honestly, I think Google will be your best friend at this point.

Raw Threads requires you pay the fee to join the club, and then you can purchase a bib if you need one.

I don't know if they require a hotel room - but at minimum you're paying $250 to run a 5K.
