Military discount 2017?

Just checking to see if anyone has any inside scoop on whether US will release a military discount for 2017 like they have in the past few years. The current one ended Dec 3 and I haven't seen any news on a new one yet. We plan on going over at the end of our Disney trip- if we can get the military discount package.

We just booked a package with the military discount for June 2017.

We called our local base just yesterday for ticket prices, and they recommended that we wait until January to buy anything because they said they were expecting some good deals to come out in January. I have no idea where they are getting this from or how reliable it is. They told us last year they had a park to park buy 1 day get 2 days free deal, and they thought it would be offered again, along with other options. They told us that tickets won't go up, so it would be in our best interest to wait and see what is offered in January before doing anything. We are located in the southeast. I'm not sure if the pricing changes by region on military tickets or not.

Word of caution... I called just to see if I could get a military discount on the package (I am a DOD civilian and can stay at Shades of Green). They said sure. I said, "are you SURE, because I was told I can't get a military discount on just the room." She kept saying she was sure I could since I stay at Shades of Green. She triple-checked. After saying I could several times, she said she was wrong and I couldn't, but that she could offer me a discount on military tickets to the park with a stay-more-save-more discount on the room. She told me the total. I asked if she could break down the cost of the hotel versus the park tickets. She was reluctant. Finally, I got the total on the tickets. I believe they charged tax on the tickets (which they do not do at your military base or at Shades of Green). They were about $50 higher than you can get at Shades of Green for a 5-day park-to-park and usually I can get something cheaper at the installation (I usually upgrade to an Annual pass, but this is just for comparison). Also, then, doing subtraction, the hotel price was $200 more than what I had already booked using stay-more-save-more. I am hoping to get an annual pass discount later to save even more, but I'm pretty happy with my rate right now. Bottom line: really check what you are getting. Now, the entire military package might be worth it... maybe. You may want to see about doing a military rate on the room and then getting tickets separately from the base. I am very wary of packages from what all I've read on this board.

Could you tell what package you booked? Did it include tickets also? And did you call Universal directly or did you purchase at an LTS office on a base?

Did you read the UO website page on military discounts?

There is a package that includes tickets

You could also just book a room without the park tickets by phone

I did read the website, but it says nothing about 2017 yet. I also chatted and spoke to a rep from Universal who said it wasn't available yet. I am use to miscommunication with Disney CMS, but not familiar with US employees yet. Wondering if they have the wrong information also.

I put in MIL in the promotions code and can see some discounts on the hotel for 2017
