Build your own light saber cost

Hi All,

I heard that in DS you can build and purchase your own light saber, which my kids can't wait to do. Our last day is our HS day. I was wondering if anyone had an average cost of light sabers, so I know how much to limit their souvenir spending throughout our week.

TIA

Yes, definitely do it in Once Upon a Toy in DS. It is way too crowded at HS.

Okay so I may have to change my plans a bit because I wasn't planning on going to DS. Does anyone know how long it will take to get from MK to DS and the best way to do this?

TIA

We built one at Mickey's Star Traders in tomorrowland at MK. That was about 10 months ago, I'm assuming it's still an option? May be easier than trying to get to DS, if you don't have plans on going. Or maybe try HS first thing in the morning, while people are rushing to rides and the lines shorter? Good luck!

This! We went on Star Tours early and built light sabers right after riding. There was no wait at all (in June).

Oh, and the line at Hollywood studios was insane but disney springs had no line at all.

The store at DHS has a cast member help build it, so the line is a little slower. Disney Springs you're kind of on your own.

Normal light sabers were $25 - 30. Double bladed or Kylo Ren style were $35 - 40.

I was going to say the same thing. We've always done this at DHS and it was nice to have the assistance of a staff member especially when you have multiple kiddos doing it. At Disney Springs it was a free for all and parts weren't even really in the right bin so it was super confusing. The only staff person walking around was an older woman that while she was sweet had zero clue on to build the light sabers.

If you're at HS either early in the morning or later in the evening (we were there at both times) the lineups were small or non existent.

As of October 2016, the single bladed sabers were anywhere from $25-30 (30 was the most expensive we could find to build). The double bladed ones were closer to $45 if I remember right...

We just did this last week at Mouse Gear in Epcot so it sounds like it may be available in every park. The regular one is 27, deluxe was 32 maybe? The the double ones were around 38 for a regular and 47 for deluxe.

We did it in MK/tomorrowland. DD got one first then DH. No line either time. Don't remember the cost though.

Does one place have a better selection of parts than the other? Not worried about time, but options!
-Thx!

If we build the lightsaber at HS, can we have it delivered to the resort gift shop instead of having to carry it around the park all day? I will be alone with my kids and the 2 year old can not be trusted to not accidentally hit someone with it in a crowded park!!

I did just that in October. Last thing I wanted my son to do was to smack some poor, unsuspecting person with a plastic lightsaber.

We did this last week at HS. The wait was short when we did it around 10:30AM, and it was great having the cast member walk them through the process. The cost for each was $26.99. This was for the basic one, so consider that the minimum. The most expensive were just under $50. When they give them the lightsabers, they are not extended, and there is tape over the end to keep it condensed. If you tell your son he can't take the tape off and play with it until you get back to the hotel, they are not too cumbersome to carry around the park. We fit ours into our backpack (just barely though).

If you have a 2 yr old, you can prob throw it in the basket at the bottom of the stroller for safe keeping. My 2 yr old would forget about it as soon as something else caught his attention anyways... lol
