Pound Panic

Think @wilma-bride is right probably with 4 weeks to go - 3 weeks today for me,

It probably won't have much of an impact either way. I think there might be a slight wobble in our favour on the 7th but apart from that can't see anything major happening that'll will swing it.

Although one my colleagues did say he felt "SO" o_O sorry for me, That I'm getting two great weeks in Florida with the family away from the office, staying in a fab hotel walking distance from the parks, but will have less spending money to by fancy meals and have to cut down on cocktails :( He was so moved he offered to start a fund raiser.

Did have to laugh, at the sarcy git, as being total the epitome of First World Problems lol

That is funny but true :)

I just transfered £500 this morning so ended up with about $600 on my pre-pay card. I was reading this morning that by the end of the year the £ could be in parity with the $. Now how much of this will and won't happen I don't know. As Wilma-bride said there isn't much we can do about it and unless you are exchanging thousands of pounds then it shouldn't be *that* much of an issue. It's what 52% of us wanted after all.

If you have a trip coming up like I do (17 days to go!) then you don't have many options..

But if things carry on I will have to think carefully about a trip in 2017 :(

I secured my reservations for next year before Brexit, so the price is now fixed in Pounds. It's only really spending money thats a hit now. If I need to spend a little less on Drinks and Merch then so be it.

In the same boat Jon. Hoping things stabalise at some point next year. Anything upwards of 1.25 will be ok with me for end of next year

My Christmas trip is to be paid in dollars and I'm using my DVC points for Easter. I usually get a bounceback for summer and again pay in dollars but might reconsider and book through a British site depending on the pound.

So glad for our trip in a few weeks I did it in stages, the notes exchanged before the vote and loaded up the currency card at 1.34 a month back.

I see martin lewis took a photo the other day of airport offering 1.08!! Now we know the rate at the airport is always bad but that is just scandolous profiting.

I'm on the other end. I just booked a trip through a UK travel agent (traveling with my brother who is a UK resident). So I'm paying in US dollars and will be trying to time my payment to pay the least US dollars possible. It ended up working in my favor as the UK package was much cheaper than booking through the US.

I can see the Pound coming back up after Brexit actually starts moving, once they know more about trade deal I'd imagine we'll be back to normal in 18 Months.

On the plus side for me, my company trades in USD, so our Share Price is increasing, and the profits will look good come bonus time!!

Well at least there's some good coming out of it, @Jon84 wish my work did bonus', hope you're putting that extra cash towards a Disney Trip. :yay:

It been pretty steady for the last few days still low, but less panicky.

Also it's only 12 days to my trip, so I have become resigned to it being low, but know I'm going to have a fab trip.

You'll have a great trip, I've been before with $1000 between two of us for 2 weeks. It's very much do able on most budgets once you are there!

I've planned the next two trips without the bonus, so if it comes in it'll be a bonus bonus lol

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the dollar may rise a little closer to the presidential election next month
This is what we are hoping for too! Maybe the possibility of DT becoming president will weaken the dollar then we are ready to pounce. I've picked up some extra shifts at work so I don't feel the pinch too much. To think two years ago in August we got $1.67, why oh why don't we bulk buy when they peak?

Ha ha I agree with the "why don't we bulk but when they peak". I'm so irritated I didn't get some the day before the brexit vote came out as it was quite high but I thought we'd stay - silly me. Only another few weeks until the election so here's hoping it goes up

Woohoo some good news Finally! I got my dollars today at 1.2368. Going to wait a few more days until getting some more in the hopes that it rises now that the Brexit issue has occured

Holey moley, keep you eyes open on the
dollar today. If Trump wins, it'll shoot up. Good result for the dollar, not for anything else :scared:
