How long does Nexus approval take?

Wow, 10 week wait? We applied for Nexus at the beginning of May. We received our conditional approval within a couple of weeks, scheduled interview for the beginning of June and received our cards within a week. So overall, 6 weeks for us. Maybe more people applied at the end of May making the queue longer?

Did you do your application on line or mail it in? What part of the country do you live? Just curious about wait times for interviews in different time zones. Your interview was really soon after your approval.

We did our application online and are in the GTA/Toronto area. Hope that helps.

Just a friendly reminder for those that do not know - once you have your Nexus, make sure you get registered for TSA Pre-Check. Air Canada lets you add it to your account when you do an online check in - once it's there the first time, it seems to stick (for me anyway). For WestJet in Orlando, I had to ask at the desk when we checked in. Again, once it was on there it appears to be there for good. It's nice to avoid that throng of people waiting in line at security at MCO.

Thank you for the reminder. I was told once we received the number, call the airline and they will add it to your reservation. I hope it's that easy:)

I applied mid May (6 days before my spouse) and got my application at the end of June - total of 6 weeks. My spouse just got the application approved few days ago - 10 weeks.
When I called a couple weeks back they said there was a backlog in applications.

You'll definitely get your interview before December, it's just a matter of getting an appointment for everyone in your family on the same day.
Shumshine, do you remember what phone number you called? I have been trying several different ones and they are all recordings. With a looming mail strike, I'm getting a little worried.

If you've sent your application by mail it's a bit tougher as you don't have online access. It might take a while for your application to go thru the central mailing centre. So there is actually no number to follow-up with the application processing.

When I called, i had already confirmed my interview date/time and was inquiring about my spouse application. It's honestly super busy and I had to try calling 5 times to reschedule my Appointment.

I know this reply doesn't help you, but rest assured it's in their system. Once the application is thru- you'll receive your conditional approval and that's when you can register online and choose an interview date/time.

If it helps. We did our interview together, and my spouse got their card 1 week after, and I've yet to get my card..... (2.5 weeks now) and the kicker..... I can't even use it during this upcoming trip :(

Good luck Toy Story Fan

Thanks so much Shumshine. Sorry you haven't received your card yet for your trip, have a great time!
I will just be patient and not worry about it anymore, it comes when it comes.:)

You'll get it before your trip! Hopefully the CP doesn't strike.
Keep smiling

We applied by mail too. Also thinking it was a mistake. That was at the end of June.

Anyway, on the Nexus website is a list of processing centres and their phone numbers. If you call, they can give you your ID number for the US website. You can see your progress there and don't need to wait for the mail. At least that's what the guy told me who answered the phone.

Good luck!!

I applied online and three days later my wife did her application. Will they let us book our interviews together (same day) so we do not have to drive to Toronto two different times.

Thanks for the reply. I tried calling the number listed and just got a recording. What number did you use? I would love to get my ID number, could speed things up.

From what I understand, they will take both of you at the same time. Just tell them when you get there that your wife is with you. I've read about many people doing this and have had no problems.

For WestJet in Orlando, I had to ask at the desk when we checked in.

Supposedly you can add your KTN during online checkin with WJ now. Haven't actually done this yet.

If you've sent your application by mail it's a bit tougher as you don't have online access.

Actually you can, provided you make an online account. I had trouble doing the online application. It would not accept my rural address so I did a paper application and mailed it in. A week after mailing it an agent called to verify some dates and after that we were good to go. I received email notification of acceptance and could access my new number through my online account immediately. Online access is great. I used it to update my driver's licence info when I renewed it.

Finally was able to talk to someone about our approvals...we finally have our enrolment numbers. I was given them over the phone. Went into the GOES website and no appointments available until December, bah humbug! Managed to get my husbands for beginning of October and I will continue to search for dates that are sooner. A friend of mine got her number today as well (we sent them together) and she was able to get an appt. for this coming Monday!
