Has anyone ever been upgraded

Did you have any issues with your points or DVC account?

:earsboy: Bill

Hi - no, none at all. We were "charged" only the points for the studio, as initially intended. We had barely been in the room 30 minutes before they requested the change.

Last year, we were charged the OKW points for the BLT room.

Members for 18 years. Average of 4 trips per year. Never an upgrade. Not too surprising when I think about it. Almost all of our stays and the rooms we have booked for family/friends have been BW view 1 bedrooms. Since there are no dedicated 2 bedrooms at BWV, there would really be no reason to upgrade someone to a 2 bedroom and since we always book BW view, there is no way to upgrade view.

Two years ago at okw had three studios booked for a one week stay. Two weeks before our trip we were offered and accepted an upgrade to a grand villa. This did not cost us any additional points. Apparently they needed studios in inventory because of demand. We enjoyed the grand villa.

No. Not even at BWV this past May when we walked in to find the carpet soaked (it had been shampooed that morning) and a construction worker standing on our balcony doing some painting (they were out there for 2 days so our balcony was unusable for 2 days). I went to the desk to let them know of the carpet was still wet...they had mentioned there were only 2 rooms available in our booking category and both had been shampooed that day, which is why we never got our room text...they were waiting/hoping for them to dry.

Now we HAVE been upgraded on our previous cash trips. On our honeymoon in 2005 we book BC standard view and checked in and were directed to the 5th floor. Yep...upgraded to lake view on the concierge floor!

Yes, parlayed 28 points into 2 nights in a Grand Villa and 1 Night in a 2 Bedroom Concierge Suite in the Beach Club Resort (not the villas).

We had 6 nights booked in a 1 Bedroom BCV and when we got there the night of arrival our room was saturated in smoke (like 2 pack a day with the windows closed for a week smoke). It was food and wine, so BCV was fully booked, so they moved us to a 2 Bedroom concierge in the resort overlooking the water for a night and then got us in a 1 Bedroom Villa the next day (We missed our diner reservation while dealing with this, so they sent up room service for free, they also gave us a stack of free fast passes for the week that were more than we could use). Then when I logged onto my DVC account after the trip, they had given us the 28 points back on the 1 night we lost in BCV. Those 28 points were borrowed, so rather than dealing with member services to bank them, we booked a studio at HHI for 2 nights a few months later. My parents live in Hilton Head, so we go for a week with the kids every year, that year we decided we would do 2 adult nights at Disney while dumping the grandkids with my parents. My parents dropped us off at Disney HHI and when we went to the desk they said, "Would you mind if we upgrade you to a grand villa". We called the grandparents and they grabbed the kids and the 6 of us spent 2 nights in a 4 bedroom villa. Not expecting that to ever happen again, but Disney Magic does exist.

Yes, last August. We started our trip in a studio at the Poly, and the day before we moved to a studio at BWV, I got a phone call while at AK, telling us we were being put in a one bedroom. They were under renovation, so they did not have enough open studios. We didn't need the space, it was just my dd and me, but it was fun to be upgraded.

Twice. DVC members for 12 years, usually go 2-3 times a year on points.

First time was a few years ago, at Kidani. We had a 1 bedroom standard view and they upgraded us to Savannah view. They never told us, we just went to our room and had a Savannah view, but at the Standard View rate.

Second time was this past September, had an SSR studio booked and at check in she said congratulations, we put you in a 1 bedroom. My guess just seeing the resort that weekend is that they needed cash inventory for studios for the weekend because the resort didn't seem full otherwise, but I don't know that for sure.

We booked a poolside view at Aulani and were given an ocean view room. My guess is because it was during our anniversary and the hotel wasn't full. No one mentioned the upgrade to us when we checked in.

Happened to us once. We had a studio booked at Beach Club for 3 or 4 nights. Nothing was mentioned at check-in, but when we opened the door we walked into a one bedroom. No idea why. I called the front desk to be sure it wasn't a mistake that would affect my points and they just said "enjoy the upgrade".

At HHI a few years ago we had reserved a studio. When we arrived for check-in, the CM told us we had an upgrade and gave us a two bedroom. She didn't say why and we didn't ask, but they were refurbishing some of the rooms at the time.

two years ago after a Disney cruise checked-in at BWV for our anniversary. We had a 1 bedroom standard booked. We got our room and it was all the way to the end and wasn't standard view was preferred. I went back and said I don't want it I want my standard. they looked and gave us a preferred again facing Luna pool and much closer. I took it and no extra pts were taking. They gave us not reason why.

Last Christmas we were upgraded from a standard view studio at AKV to a savanna view. We were pretty excited. Only problem is, it was our very first time in a savanna view (we were of the opinion they were a waste of points), and now that we've been spoiled we only want to have a savanna view again. It was amazing!!!!!

DVC member for 20 years or so... was upgraded just once and it was a few months ago. Politely asked if we could wait to check in longer if they could located us in the section we had requested at SSR. Took him a half hour of working on it and when done told us we'd been upgraded as well (from studio to 1BR.) Plus, another family traveling with us who are new DVC members were also upgraded. A little pixie dust.

Not an upgrade but on our VERY FIRST DVC stay......at SSR our 2br was NOT CLEAN...it looked like it had the Trash and Towel Service but that was it. So we called housekeeping and they came in and started cleaning it right away We walked down to the pool area/arcade and all and actually ran into our guide on our walk over. He asked us how our first stay was going and we mentioned the room not being ready so he had us come into the DVC office there at SSR and he gave us fast passes and a Disney gift card with I think had 20 or 25 bucks on it.

Not an upgrade, but we were at GCV in a 1 bedroom villa in March and we realized the couch bed, where my kids were sleeping was covered in blood. So gross. I mean, housekeeping either just slapped a new mattress pad cover over it or didn't change the mattress pad. All bad. I called the front desk and they changed out the mattress and it kept bothering me, so I let the manager know the next day and we got 5 free meal passes. We went to Steakhouse 55.

No. Not even at BWV this past May when we walked in to find a construction worker standing on our balcony doing some painting (they were out there for 2 days so our balcony was unusable for 2 days).!

We had the same thing happen to us at BWV, including a worker waking us up one morning with pounding on the balcony a little before 8AM. Complained to several people - couldn't get moved but were refunded one night worth of points.

Did have one upgrade many years ago. It was our first DVC points stay at OKW, and we had booked a studio but found ourselves in a 2-bedroom. Never asked why, but did have some family who were also in town come and stay a night with us.

We were upgraded from a studio at SSR to a 1 bed this past spring break trip. When we arrived we were told our room was ready so we were super happy, but when we got to the room it had not been cleaned from the previous guests. We trouped back over to the desk and I jokingly told the very nice desk people that a 1 bedroom upgrade would be amazing and make this trip start to be better. We had some super frustrating problems with our TIW card and DTD guest services the day before and we were not off to a good start on this trip. The desk staff at SSR was wonderful and full of all the Disney magic that had so been missing from the DTD bs we had experienced. We never really expected an upgrade but after a bit of waiting and back and forth among the desk people and a manager in the back who we never saw, we got a very nice upgrade. This was the 3rd and last trip on our AP for the year and the young lady at the desk seemed bit surprised when she looked up our account, her eyebrows went up a little and she said "oh, I see you have visited us often"! I don't have any idea if that contributed to the upgrade.

As a DVC member, no. Will never expect it either. I will book the room type I want.

My parents have though. First trip as DVC members they ever took. They booked a Lake View at BLT (where they own). They were given a Magic Kingdom View. No reason was given as why this was done. When they told them it was a mistake they were told it wasn't. Near the end of the trip my mom told my dad she never wanted to stay in anything at BLT other than a MK view so they needed to buy more points. They did and now my dad thinks it is a Disney Conspiracy.
