Rookie - Full Hook Up or Premium

We may be heading to FW with our neighbors next April. They have a travel trailer (North Trail 33BKSS) the stats are:
Slides - 3
Length - 36 ft 10 in
Ext Width - 8 ft
Ext Height - 11 ft 6 in

Is Full Hook Up ok or should we go for a Premium spot? ...and what loop would you request. We have no interest in a preferred spot - as we want to be near the pool.

Although we have been to DW, none of us have been to FW, so we are rookies at this.

The difference between the sites (except for the tent/pop-ups and primitive) are a factor of how much sand (coquina) versus how much concrete there is. Premiums are basically all paved where the preferred have a small pad of sand (for a tent or such) while the full have much more.

for my money, and that size of a rig, I'd go with Premium or at least preferred, but that's me. If you look at the top fo the forum there is a sticky post about fort wilderness information http://disboards.com/threads/fort-wilderness-resort-information-a-work-in-progress.3502095/ that has a map to help you determine what loops are what type (as well as pet friendly).

Thanks. Yes, I did look at the sticky post. We are leaning towards a premium spot and thinking we'd request either loop 1200 or 1300. Just looking for opinions.

Sadly I can only speak to 2 spots. Once in the 300 loop (308 I believe it was) and once in the 1400 loop (1401). I did like the 1400 loop. It was relatively close to the meadows and the pool and kind of centrally located. Plus being in 1401, the bus stop was a very (VERY) short walk for us.

I second the premiums for that size rig. The full-hookups will mostly hold it, but the premiums usually are bigger.

What will you be using? Will you be staying with them?

I would suggest either 600 or 900 loop. 600 probably best situated for all around access to pool, Meadows, and outdoor movie theater.

Sorry, should have clarified - yes, we will be staying with them in the travel trailer. Four adults total. In looking at the map in the sticky post - I originally thought 1200 or 1300 because they are not pet friendly. We will not have pets with us. This may be a dumb question - folks without pets can stay in the pet friendly loops?

Yes they can.

Also just note, while it is rare, a loop that is not specified as "Pet Friendly" may be come "Pet Friendly" as needed if the good folks at the Fort Deem it necessary (i.e. they have more guests wanting to stay with their pets then they have designated pet friendly sites). That said they will typically try and fill up the Pet friendly Sites first with the pet lovers.

Only kind I've ever stayed in and never took a pet.

Disney does give priority to people who pay the additional pet fee to get them in pet loops, but they'll also do their best to get you in the loop you request as well even if you don't have a pet.

I second and third the Premium sites. But think about whats more important to you, being close to the pool and movies or being close to the boats, trails end, crocketts tavern, settlement trading post and etc.... With only 4 adults and not any kids, I would stay in the 400 loop or even the 100 loop (Preferred) or even the tail end of the 700 loop (was just in that area last trip). That way you can go to the boats easy and not really need a golf cart. My family loves the boats and monorail combos so we even go to Epcot alot times like that. Still easy quick walk to the pool as both are just a straight walk up the sidewalk to the 600 loop and the cut thru.

If the pool, meadows trading post and movies then 600 loop. Easy walk to bus stop and while there is not a comfort station on that loop, if you stay in the front section its only across the street and actually can be closer than some loops with them. Only complaint about 600 is ALOT of the loops have very little shade.

Well I will be the odd man out here. We are frequent visitors to the Fort. Our rig is a 35 ft RV with three slides and an awning. There are some great sites, as well as not so great sites, in every category. Some of the most spacious sites are full hook up. We book Premium once in a while because we enjoy being in a certain place for Halloween decorations, other holiday periods, etc., not for site amenities or coquina vs pad reasons. We have found some of the preferred sites to be a bit "closed in" or a challenge for getting into and we do not enjoy the constant sounds of the busses and boat horns (yet many find this to be part of the charm). For pure value, spaciousness and proximaty to the pool, the 1700 loop is our first choice. As you can see, loop and type preference is a highly personal choice. Upon check in, request your preferences (near or away from comfort station, easy back in, away from main roadway/bus stops). The cast members will bend over backwards to comply if at all possible. Have fun planning your trip.

We were just in a tent but we stayed in a full-hookup site last time we were down because that is all that was available. It was 1629 I believe in the 1600 loop. We loved it! It was a super short walk behind the bathhouse to the pool. I'm not sure size wise with your trailer, but 1600 would be my pick for the full-hookups. And it would save some money for something else. Also, the first site they gave us was in 1700 loop and was all pavement. Wasn't going to work with our tent, so we went and explained the situation and they quickly gave us another spot. So if you choose to go with a non-premium loop and the spots not big enough, go back and change. Just get there early enough that other spots would still be available! Have fun! We went last April for the first time. Our weather was beautiful and we are going back in February!

Just an FYI, we stayed in the outer 1400 loop in a premium site, and requested near the comfort station. We were truly 15 feet from the comfort station which was right next to the campfire site and less than a 3 minute walk to the pool. It was an excellent location? Oh and less than 2 minute walk to the bus stop.
