Lunch or Breakfast at BOG?

I currently have a breakfast reservation at BOG at 8:55 AM but am debating on whether or not to change it to lunch. One of my main reasons is that it's cheaper. But if I do breakfast, I believe we get into the park earlier? I'm not sure since it's really close to opening. I would really like to be seated in the ballroom at BOG and I'm worried we might not get those seats, is there any way to make sure? Do we seat ourselves or do we get assigned to a table?

You seat yourself.

You may want to preorder to speed up the process of getting in!

Not all in your party must order food, so if you want to share a meal you may do so, or someone can just order a drink if they're not hungry yet.

You can try to get there a bit early if you wish.

If your main goal is to get in early, keep checking for earlier times! I got an 8:15am breakfast after trying to get an earlier time (originally had something like 8:45am).

Breakfast is good, not great, and to me expensive, but on the dining plan it's a good use of a CS credit.

We really enjoyed lunch there!

For our next trip I have one breakfast and two lunches booked!

With an 8:55 you may or may not get in early since they typically open the "gates" around 8:45 anyway. So not only will you be entering with the crowds, you'll also be stuck in a restaurant eating during that golden first hour of touring when lines are shorter. You also have the possibility that WDW will change the hours and instead of a 9:00 opening, you have an 8:00 opening.

Do lunch.

We had an 8:05 CRT reservation that I was so excited about but they ended up changing the park hours and opening at 8. The would not let us in the park early and the gates opened around 7:50. We had to fight the crowd to get to the castle on time.

If you had an earlier reservation I would say breakfast simply for the benefit of getting in the park early. Since it is so late, you will end up in BoG during a prime time to ride rides if you do rope-drop.

My recommendation is to change to lunch. We had lunch there last week and it was an excellent meal. I had low expectations, but what we had was delicious! Get the coq au vin for sure!
